Daughter's first ties
http://i413.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/IMG_1247.jpg
Lindsey liked fish for all's crochet jigs so she tried to imitate his creations and after awhile became frustrated and tied these with what she called a single knot weave. This is what she came up with and I didn't help.Every time I tried to help she asked me to leave. These are what she ended up with while trashing my tying desk. What do you think? I think I might need another vise.:D:D

F A N T A S T I C !
Hey JJJ,
Those jigs are not only a combination of beautiful colors and excellent workmanship, they will definitely catch crappie! I'm very impressed. Order the extra vise. :)

JJJ
Is your young'un going to be selling her creations? She will be selling them 10 times as fast as she can tie them. They look FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good looking jigs, Jungle. Tell her I'd fish with them anytime!
-
Those really look good. How old is she out of curosity.
-
She's 17.She tied a couple more while I was posting the pics.I'll post them tommorrow as an update. She wants to tie more different colors. She wanted to know about the jig swap and when I informed her that you need to tie at least 25 jigs all the same she didn't like that idea. She said that she would do 25 but they wouldn't be the same. It's early and she likes the variety right now,BUT DON'T WE ALL... She would probably do it if I gave her a buck apiece.

Very good work - you must be really proud of your daughter. Better get another vise......
-
Wow those are really nice. Great colors and craftsmanship. Those look better than a lot of what I tie. I'd say they'll catch fish for sure. Mighty nice job "Jungle Jane" ;).
-
Tell her good job and it looks like she's been tying longer than today for sure. If you get her a vise you should spend a little extra and get her a good rotary.

Nice!! :) My daughter is 6 and she has tied 2 without my help other than the knot. I love that she has interest in anything I do and fishing is up at the top!! You've got to be one proud pop! Keep her going and make sure to let her make all the color decisions, an outside the "click" view helps cause ya never can tell until it hits the water.
I wanna know how #1 catches em'. I've done very well with the gills on a fly that was pretty close. Tell her I'm watchin' for the next big thing... and don't be stealing her ideas JungleJim!!! ;)
-
She's just finished her 6th one.Average tie per jig is about 35 minutes.I think she's been looking over my shoulder when I tie.Marabou tail on this one looks long but I'm not saying a word.I do have a spare renzetti that I loaned to a buddy of mine.I may have to get it back. These have a chenille underbody, then she does her thing with two colors over the top.She didn't get that from me.
-
im thinking your gonna have to start ordering two of everything atleast....
-
Really cool that your daughter is showing interest in something that you enjoy. You're blessed.
Those are some really nice looking jigs! Good work.

get that girl a vise and get her into the swaps......she has a natural eye and talent that can only get better........she may just be showing you how to tie one day ( I'd take lessons already).....brim

JungleJim be proud of your daughter and buy her a vice. I know you would rather have her as a fellow jig tier than a competitor. She does good work to be just 17.
Webdog, Welcome from Alabama.

wow those are really nice those were a lot better then my first ties i like the 2nd 1 the best she does pretty work ;D
-
Think you better get that other vise:D tell her good job
-
Snow day today so she has the day off. If she's interested I'll show her a couple simpler patterns that I tie that don't take so long.Once she gets the simple stuff down she will be better on the knot thing she does.I'm looking at a couple dynakings on ebay and if I get one at a decent price I'll have an extra rotary for her to work with. my 5 year old grandaughter wants me to teach her as well. I think I might have something going here. Three generations under one roof tying would be cool.

Keep it up Gal
GET THAT YOUNG LADY A VISE .... NOW !
Great work ... Get her paid well for what she does (even if you use them)
Keep it up Gal ...

JJJ, see if she can incorporate a double crochet into a tie. Should be awesome with 2 colors. I like the overhand knot technique but took me longer than the crochet. I wonder if one could single crochet over the hook shank? Yes I know how to actually crochet but I am much better at the technique for tying jigs than making scarves.

fish i been needing a scarves

UPDATE; I asked her this afternoon if I got her a vise would she do some jigs for a swap. She said she would but not with the knots because it take to long.Tonight I just purchased a Dyna-King Voyager II. She asked which one is her's,the Renzetti or the Dyna-King.I told her that depends on how I like the Dyna-King. Looks like the next swap I'll be sending two.

About skarves,I bought a majic scarf thursday, have been unraveling it and have tied a few jigs with it that looks pretty good, even put it in water and it opens up really nice.Since it's made from nylon it has a nice shine to it.I'll post pics when I get enough, maybe add 24 to include with my swap jig since I have time.I did get a Dynaking rotary vise so I have a spare.Lindsey likes the renzetti,I'm not quite sure yet. She's finished 16 and has 8 to go on the swap. These look better than my first 1000.Maybe she'll sell some on ebay one day.

Sure are lucky to have her wanting to ty jigs with you get her what she needs and dont look back. Those jigs look good better than the ones I have tied so far shes got some talent keep up the good work be proud.
