I would be more impressed if someone on this board tied them and really see nothing special here at all. There are plenty of guys here that can tie as well as these are tied for sure.
This is a jig tying board and would like to see you post your jigs and not some store bought jigs tied in Haiti. Heck even is Wally had tied them there would be nothing wrong with posting them on this board. I don't know why Wally needs you to push his jigs, but please just post what you tie.
This kind of post would be better posted on the Classified/Swap Meet board.
However this is just my opinion.

nice jigs, certain they'd catch fish. bodys look a little small and alot of exposed hook but what the heck. if they're hungry they'll eat em
I think they look fine. However, like a couple have already said, I think some if not most on this board tie as well as that. Nothing real inventive about them. Nothing new. Jus plain old crappie jigs with Mr. Crappie's stamp on em. :rolleyes:
I was in the store lookin at jigs the otha day and I was amazed at the craftsmanship I was seeing. I was more amazed that the jigs were actually sellin fer $1.50 and $2 apiece. Heck I used to pay for em like everybody else. Jus makes me happy to know that I can tie my own these days and have a higher quality jig and one customized for the colors and sizes my crappies like to eat.
Thanks for posting those though. I been curious to see what Mr. Wally's jigs were gonna look like. I think they look great for basic jigs. Good craftsmanship and great color choices.

like crow said i think there is people on this site that tie alot better then they mass prod. most jigs...the only diff is we arnt getting no $2 each...but i wish i did...
Yeah way back when I first started with bucktail jigs, mine were better tied and didn't get chewed up as bad as the store boughts.

UG - I do believe he was just trying to pull our leg.
Skips point being, anyone can go out and buy a jig... not everyone can make their own and this forum is intended for people to show off what THEY create and learn things they did not know how to do before. Hope I'm not putting words in your mouth Skip, and no offense intended to anyone!

You are on point! I know this site is not for advertising and that there is a board for that. I think most of the people on all the boards like seeing what people on here make and this board in particular is a tying board and don't feel anyone should be posting pics from some store bought jigs. All that would have been needed for me to delete the entire thread is a price and I just don't see the use in posting some store bough jigs tied in what ever country here. I almost deleted it because of showing the packaging, but thought since he posted the first one everyone should see what is not for this board.Quote:

I will admit, I liked the jigs for the most part. I like probably 85% of whats posted on here. I don't, however, get to see the true craftsmanship of the jig until used. So they make look good, but they may get chewed up and fall apart in 4 fish for all i know.
Well, the reason I put the post is to let guys see what's out there. It's no worse than a jig seller refering folks to their site in an attempt to sell them.
Skip, Wally doesn't need me to push his products. We've been good friends for years and I wanted to show off his jigs. He was tying jigs long before most of us and these were produced under his directions. Did expect a negative comment or two and where some would come from.
It's all good. We're all here to share knowledge and catch more fish.

The first picture was posted with no mention of being Wally's jigs in an attempt to get an unbiased opinion of what you guys thought. The second is the same thing with Wally's tag to show that they are his jigs.

I enjoy the jig making forum. I have seen some awesome jigs tied by the members. I also enjoy seeing the mass produced jigs like Sandwich Maker posted. I am working slowly on getting some stuff together to start tying a few, and this gives me just some more ideas on different colors.

I don't know Wally and may never meet him, but I am sure he is a nice enough guy, but this board is for learning and showing what one has made. I never see post by Wally unless he has some show coming up he wants to promote and I don't see anything bad with that, but at the ame time it would be nice to see him share some of his knowledge on this site.

alot of the stuff that skip says im like wow what a grumpy old man...but i do have to say he does have a point...i own a company and would like to sell tons but i dont get on here to try to push my stuff i just like talking to guys that fish for crappie like me....but i due have to say that i have met wally,todd and ronnie and all are nice guys and alot of their stuff i back 100% but like skip said again i dont see them on here sharing any info on how to catch more fish....

I'm very much responsible for Wally not posting much on here. His name is his living and there will always be someone taking cheap shots at him. I tell him it's just not worth it. He sponsors sites where we will be able to enjoy sharing ideas. Let's let it go and get back to sharing ideas, information, and all the good stuff to make our hobby fun.
You are so right with the cheap shots. I have never met him but seems like a good ol country boy that got lucky and has worked hard to get where he is. Like you said let just get back to sharing and talking jigs. No harm done SM :DQuote:

I can't say what others here do, but I ask for opinions from the people that use jigs and crappie fish and based on what I hear back will go a long way as to what I will do spending money for stock or not, using my time to put them on the web site, coming up with a price and all the other little things I need to think about . If I don't hear much or it's not good enough to get people to ask about it and tell me what they think then it's time to make the decision on that one to move on and not even take the time to mess with it.
I have been on these boards for a pretty good while and have seen it all. I have always ask these people what their thinking is on things like this new type jig for me to make and I think most know where to find my web site or can email or call me if they want some jigs. I do my tying because I like it and I buy way too much materials to actually make a profit and if I quit tomorrow it will not make any difference to my pocket book (other than save me money) and I would just have more time than I can use. So watching TV is not a good option for me and I can't fish all the time, but I can do this and make good use of the time.
If you or anyone wants to pass after they see my picture then fine and believe me it will not hurt my feeling or change my financial place. So if you feel that you don't like my post with pictures then by all means pass it by.
I would say a lot more, but it's not worth it.

I'm here because I make jigs, not because I buy them!!??!! 80% of the people on here won't buy them because they know they can make their own, or something close just by seeing a pict. And if not, most on here seem to trade materials instead of $$.

theres a ton of poeple on this site that makes some great stuff hands down some of the best you will see
most do it becouse they love it and find enjoyment from fishing with what they makeand even better then that to share what they make for others to learn from them
yes a few of them sell what they make hey so what i can promis they aint making a killing off it
now i have meet wally he is a very nice guy and you posting his jigs the way you did was kinda outside what most are trying for here would have been diffrent if you would had started it off with look at the jigs he has came out with

Well IMHO I think this has gotten out of hand. If you look here Crappie.com - Crappie Fishing Information and Adventure the owner ed has written about slab daddies on the site. So I dont think it is that big of a deal IMO. But for me there are people on here that every post is about hocking something they make or promoting their self in some way. Skip I'm not talking about you, you have always been real helpful. What me and others do is dont even open the thread that they start. We all like learning from each other and have a great tying forum going on so lets move on and get back to tying. Bo
I'm like you Attica, I fish my own jigs, give some away, use Blakemore roadrunners w a tube, and use minnows. Anyone selling jigs should be able to show their wares as well. That includes mass produced jigs backed by Wally Marshall. Skip and Ship do a fine job in their tying. They both have customers that don't want to tie and are willing to pay for their jigs. I've got no problem with any of it. I've been tying my own jigs for over 35 years and have never sold one. Now if I could find some suckers that would pay me $2 a pop, I might consider really getting into it. Until then, I'll tie some up as needed. I don't need to get fancy at all, just a selection of different color/combos is all any tackle box needs. If you're over some fish, I know I'll have one in stock they like.Quote:

I agree it is time this thread close and move on. Just one last thing I want to say about my post. If I wanted to sell what I post and not get feed back it would not be on the tying board and would have been on more than this one board.
I just happen to use the same pic I put in my customer's file and that I used on other sites as well as on my web site so that is the only reason mine had the card in the middle and I don't plan on fixing different photos for different places.
Anyway this thread is done and now we are back to normal showing off, LOL (J/K).
