What Kind Of Flash?
This will be my first mail in/internet order to a regular flyshop, usually I go to Cabela's or Jann's Netcraft and just pick up what I see that I like and don't pay much attention to product names or styles. :o Stuff comes out of the package and into plastic boxes once home. Either place is over an hour drive and dont see myself getting there, so I have a question about flash to go in with the tail maribou.
I want the very thin stuff, maybe little larger diamater than thread, kinda hologram. What would this be called? Midge Flash (Krystal Flash) - Flashabou Accent. There are a few more but those look the closest to what I want. What do you guys use?

i use the flasabou tinsel flash

I forgot to mention, I will be ordering from Jann's if that helps with any names that may come up. They also sell Grizzly Flashabou Accent, 5 colors but none of them the color I am looking for.
Thanks MudBug, unfortunatley Jann's doesn't sell that type. They're located in Ohio so that is one big reason for me using them.

If You Are Looking For Something Thin And Flashy It's The Midge Flash.netcraft Has It But Barlow's Doesn't.it Is Shiny, very Limp And Works Very Well With Marabou.i Have It In About 4 Colors And I Really Like It.it's Not Cheap But When It Comes To Tying What Is...

What you are describing is "Krystal Flash"
-
If it's crinkled then you want krystal flash. If it's like Christmas tree tinsel, you want flashabou.
-
I think Barlow's has it and it is called Holographic flat tinsel and you want the small. I am pretty sure this is what you are looking for.

Thanks everyone! Yeah it's not cheap, but I do like it, you can blend it in with the marabou and looks good. A little goes a long way too. Order is going out in the morning, 1-pearl and 1-light blue.
Got started on it buying some clearance tube jigs that had this stuff intead of plastic. They sat near the bottom of my box for quite awhile until I looked at the material in a new light. Now I love it!
Thanks again, and next time I'm there, I swear I'll pay attention! :D Just too much stuf...........

You want some great flash check out FTD
-
I use a little of that midge flash and it works pretty good not to bulky on the smaller jigs..
-
I'm originally from Ohio so I order from Jann's whenever I can. They just opened up a BPS store here in Leeds which is about 20 minutes away so I find myself driving up there at least once a month!
I like Krystal flash or flashabou mostly.
-
Get you some midge in rainbow color it draw's off the surrounding color's and just accent's them no more than 4 strand's in tail or 2 for laterial line's.
-
Alright flatfish, why didn't I post this before the swap. lol Oh well, I put a few more than that in my jigs, not much to snip out a few here and there and won't hurt my feelings one bit, guess I like my jigs perty. ;) I did order the midge flash as well as flashabou accent. I have some of the tinsel that Skip mentioned, found it at a craft shop and paid waaaaaaay more than at the link Skip posted. :o It just doesn't have the same sparkle to it, but I do use it on some things.

they also have one called Angel Hair flash that's pretty small size

I use the Angel Hair in some of my smaller jigs.I'ts like a super fine tinsel.I get mine from Feathercraft which is based right here in the St.Louis area.I know they have a catalog and a website. They are one of the largest fly tying outlets in the country.I think they are worth checking out.
