Any Garmin handheld, very easy to use & accurate too. Some of the etrex"s are being phased out but they are great units also, prices start @$100. or $79 on sale. Garmin Map 76 units cost more but U get more things llike electronic compass etc. I have a map76 Csx & its great, keeps my Humminbird Si from always getting lost.
thanks yal he will be looking at them this weekend

ok theres a gps 76, gpsmap 76,gpsmap 76s,gpsmap 76cx,gpsmap 76csx which one of theses and why ,confused
All gps mentioned here are good. I prefer the Delorme PN 40 and the Topo 7.0 map software that goes with it. Very good detail and you can download unlimited quad maps and aerial photos onto the handheld gps for $30.00 a year.
The thing a lot of folks forget is that as they get into this technology they really do want some of those bells and whistles and are stuck with a low end unit they cannot sell for what they have in it. Just a thought.
If all you want is to return to certain spots such as brushpiles. I wouls buy least expensive Garmin, I use an old Etrex and still love'n it. Easy to use and I've seen some other brands people had that did'nt look as simple to operate.;)
I am dumb as a stump. I look for brush piles with a $2000 gps.
Cane pole I hope the Hbird rep has a helmet or can run fast. If he acts like he has never heard of the problem like all the CSR's at the factory he could have a problem on his hands. I'll see you at the Bash and will try to keep my rope in the trunk:)
anybody somebody has to have a idea
I have the 76csx. It has a memory card for adding maps. It is waterproof and FLOATS!! (all the 76's do by the way) Wish the screen was bigger, but that is what you get with a handheld. Just ordered the inland lakes dvd for it. When it comes in I should be all set. Definately go with color. I went with this one for the electronic compass, but if you don't care for that you could save some $$ withthe 76 cx. Hope this helps.
does everyone think the eletric compass is the way to go
I lucked up and bought a brand new 76 cx on Ebay for $122.00. I have been using it deer hunting, testing it on my stands. It puts me with 6 or 8 feet every time. I manually entered all my waypoints from my Etrex, just hadn't had it out on the water yet.
