Received my new Cabelas catalog today and noticed the new hds units from Lowrance and they look great, who has one or used them, tell me what you think

here is what I'm talking about
Cabela's -- Lowrance HDS-5X Sonar
Cabelas site says that it is available for in-store pick up with 8-10 business days. Looks at them at the Houston boat show. Rep was clueless. I wish they had two card slots. The two lower models only come with one and the top two models have two.
What has caught my eye is the broadband sounder ability of these new units. From what I have gathered it is a "software" addition. I know that you can purchase the "hardware" form of this technology at a pretty stiff premium. Will be anxious to find out what this technology will due insofar as clearing up and filtering your signal. Have seen what the LMS 520c can do...going to be something for the HDS series to out do their performance. Looks like they all come with 16 channels vs. the 12 that you get now (all internal). Also, the fact that they have dual frequency (83, 200) might be something that water less than 30 ft could utilize. Time will tell.
The unit uses a standard 200KHz transducer to get both 83 and 200KHz operation at the same time. This is supposed to give the benefit of both frequencies, resulting in better target separation and clarity. The antenna is supposed to be good, eliminating most need for an external GPS.
when would you think Lowrance will be sending out these to there retailers , i haven't seen one yet
Received an email from J & H in regards to their availability of the HDS series from Lowrance on their website this morning...his reply...

Bps In Nashville Had One On Display Yesterday Looks Good.
I noticed that the screen resolution on the 5 & 7 models are not as good as the 8 & 10 models. They all look sweet though!
BPS Nashville Had them yesterday, and Gander Mountain Bowling Green KY said they are on the way.
In looking at the new lineup for Lowrance this is what they have for power...
Max 250W/32W RMS actual; 30,000/3,750 RMS analog equivalent W
I am familiar with units that come with a stated wattage...i.e. 1500, 4,000, etc. Can somebody elaborate as to what these numbers mean and what effect they will have on the unit. In this video clip the the Lowrance engineer mentions that with this technology you can get by with less wattage YouTube - Lowrance Broadband Sounder-1. The technology in the HDS models is software whereas in the video clip it is a hardware item.
Thoughts?
must be were getting close, i cant wait to check them out
