Hey Mike
Dre , nice crappies were you in a boat or on shore , where is the closest boat ramp to that area?
These were caught from shore ....The closes ramp have to be gravelly point [roaches run] but all you have to do is fish from the wall... Harbor patrol to the wharf are holding some nice crappies right now;)
Thats good to know , when I have to go visit the in-laws maybe I 'lltake myfather in law & ride down there & check it out. Will my MD. bay fishing license cover me there or do I need a DC. or potomac river fisheries license?
I bought a D.C. license just to be on the safe side
I'll have to look into that . I found the ramp you were talking about on google maps. If I were to go down there to fish from shore sometime is there a place to park close by?
There's parking all over the area
Iguess it would have been a little crowded today. Seacret service probably wouldn't have let you fish today.
was in dc area from july to nov 08. fished across from the wharf on the park side. caught some catfish, yellow perch, bluegills, and other panfish. was really surprised at the amount and types of panfish. used zebco 11 and a five foot ultra light rod. had a blast!!! am now in high desert of southern cali. antelope valley. in 1995 or so caught the biggest black crappie i have ever in tehachapi, ca. then started to fish lake elizabeth and was shocked to find so many crappie and blue gill in that lake.
while in dc/md area i also fished lake artemesia, greenbelt. caught some crappie off of one of the docks (first one it has a bench) lots of vegetation on the lake. my brothers say there are some 1 1/2 to 2 pounders there near one of the bridges and a beaver dam.
