My fishing partner and his ten year old son kept 75 ten inch or better crappie last Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning on their first visit to Crescent Lake last weekend. The largest was 2lbs and 11ounces. Good luck.
Hi Everyone, glad to be a part of the forum.
Joe, I live right down the road from dead lake which takes you right into crescent. The fishing ( for me ) has been really well lately. I fish dead lake and crescent alot. I took my 8 year old daughter out on christmas day and almost every speck was between 1.5# to over 2#. I went by myself yesterday and caught limit with one fish right at 3#. That was fat daddy speck. I don't get them that big very often. There are some monsters in the lake. Here are some picks. There not the greatest, as I took them outside at night next to the cleaning table. The scale I used is fairly accurate. I have an exact 5# machined block of steel I used to make sure it was reading right. I don't own one of those fancy digital scales, but I am sure the measurement was pretty close. I would love to catch those big ones all day. I caught all the fish on jigs and minnows.

Can you still put a boat in at Dead Lake? I had heard it was being sold a year or so ago and I would like to go. Is there any lodging on Crescent or Dead lake?
Thanks for your help
Hi, The county bought and took over the fish camp. I have known the original owners of the camp for years. There is a brand new concrete boat ramp. You can put in three boats at a time ( at least we can). The whole place has been upgraded. As far as lodging, you can rent brand new concrete padded spaces for your rv. To my knowledge, there are no actual rooms for rent or anything of that nature. There used to be some small cabins for rent years ago, but I do not think that is the case now. There may be some lodging on crescent somewhere, but I am not for sure where they might be. You might do an internet search for lodging on crescent lake. It may turn up something. I put my boat in at least 4 times a week. I have been putting my boat in this ramp for over 20 years. The restaurant will be open in the first week of febuary. So, you can have b'fest, lunch , and dinner. It's always nice to have a cold one after a day of fishing.
Thanks crappie time it has been 30 or more years since I have been to Dead Lake
Nice fish ! ! !
Beautiful looking fish Crappie Time!!
Crappie Time, knows of what he speaks !!!
I am some what new to the group, but I have been posting for the last month or so about the fishing in Cresent lake. I own property on the north end of the lake and have been fishing it since the mid 60's. This might go down as one of the best years in the last 10 to 15 years.
Spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the lake with my dad & nephew. We kept nothing under 1lb. We ended up with at least 35 every day and only fished till 1 or 2 pm. There were boats all over the lake, and the reports I got was almost everyone was catching fish.
For those asking about boat ramps. I know of 3 but I'm sure there's more. There's Hide Away Cove (not the best ramp in the world) on the north end of the lake, off Paradise Shores drive. There's the city boat ramp in Cresent City, then there is the boat ramp in Dead lake.
If I can help anyone with more info just ask.

I live in Port Wentworth, Ga (Savannah) and used to come down to Camp Henry and fish in the spring.
I am looking to find a new place to camp/or rent cabin and fish Crescent Lake and the Camp Henry area on Lake George
Do any of you have a recommendation for me ? As I recall they weren't too far apart.
Thanks
Smackover
I must agree. Those are some nice fish. Nothing prettier than the way Black Crappie look. Makes me want to head south tonight.
Hey Earl
you said two of you caught 75 fish right? Is'nt that 25 over the limit?
Sorry Earl I did not see two day time frame....
my deepest apologies
Our game wardens can be pretty stiff when it comes to limits around here. If they see you on the lake alot, chances are they are going to see what you got in the well.:p
I'm going to try and head out tomorrow. Can't get a enough of fishing for the specks.
Smackover,
Cresent Lake & Lake George are no more the maybe 20 to 25 miles apart. I know Hide Away Cove on Cresent lake has camping & cabins. Georgetown Marina has camping & cabins and is a very nice place to stay on Lake Geroge. There is also a place called Porkys on Lake George that is a motel, resturant/bar, boat ramp.
Hope that helps
