Hey nice one there! Gonna mount it or release to the grease?
Glad you went fishing and hope you took the young'un with you!
GOOD GOSH!!!
Did you get a tape measure on that bad boy? Just curious how long it was, nice catch!!
Nice catch that one would never see grease.
I would have put that one back in the water; Not.
Would like to know what lake that came from. If in Florida that is a very large fish. Not many that big caught in Florida.
Joe
You Dog ! ! !
That was my fish ! !
I was comin over there this weekend to get em ! !
Very nice Sus', Excellent !
Caught in Orlando,fl (not just big Bass here).Grease Release,I thought about mounting but with times the way it is($$$$),at least he had fresh grease.
I think, anymore, ya just got to take measurements and Taxidermist just orders a form that size and paints it up, doesn't really use the fish skin or anything.
I think youre right. "MOST" probably mount fish that way. The guy I had mount a few deer heads for me mounts ALOT of fish. He is always traveling to professional taxidermy shows competing with all types of mounts he's done. I dont have any fish mounted but have witnessed him having fish in his "drying room" and he uses the actual fish for mounting. I know there's alot of guys that are good with their trade, but his mounted fish looks like when you first pull 'em out of the water. He's a real artist when it comes to painting the mounts.;)
That one should feed two or three of you! Nice slab #1.
Great fish....
Great Slab... better get the net!!!!
Good Crappie Man!! That's one that will make you feel good there!!
I couldn't stop staring at it,biggest I've ever seen.I do feel good too.I'm also having regrets
for not taking it over to Bass Pro and seeing if they would put it in their tank.Like they say
hind sight is 20/20.
Boy that Lake Orlando produces some big fish. I guess not too surprising it is very fertile with the golf course on it supplying all that extra fertilizer. The lake is definitely eutrophic. City of Orlando tested it and has it listed as eutrophic. The water is very brown from the excess nutrients. Although it may have naturally been a higher nutrient lake depending on the soil type and drainage in the area. Regardless the golf course definitely contributes. Not like the St. John chain which is naturally stained water.
Whose complaining though if the fish are surviving and they sure appear to be. Hope it never passes that critical point where too much nutrients causes die off from oxygen consumption with all the decaying plant matter on the bottom. The lake is small, no motors allowed, and the fish hold hard to one area making the fishing excellent and not difficult to figure out. Really is a gem you have there. It is perfect for kayak fishing. Don't worry though, I'm into exploring new lakes closer to me, but couldn't help trying yours out. I'm not the type to hammer someones spot. Plus I share when I do well elswhere good luck with a whole week off I'm sure you'll have fun.
It's not my lake,I'm just enjoying it myself Zoscoda, did you have any luck when fishing it?
As for the fish being easy to catch, there has been plenty of times when I leave with just a boat ride and good fresh air.It has been the most productive year ever on that lake.I hope to see you out there,I'll be the one riding around in the bass hunter boat dragging four lines behind.
