Im looking at going down there my self. Could someone give me some info on a baitshop and good boat ramp to use? I would appreciate the info.
As you're coming into Star City from the north there is a hardware store on the right by Subway; they sell bait and have rosie reds. The best ramp is at the state park; go thru town and on the south side there is a sign to turn left. After you launch the best fishing is probably about 1/4 mile to the left just in the tree line. CEB posted a map of a good fishing spot last Nov.; good luck.
Thank you for the info. I am going to try to head down there sometime in the near future.
I will be there at first light in the AM. I will post what I catch.
good luck im headed to Harris Brake will post results as well
Today's report. Fished from around 7 am to 2:30 pm. Nothing. Nodda. Zilch. Zero. None. Goose-egg. Round one. I didn't even get the pleasure of loosing my bait. I should have bought (4) shiners this am, one for each pole.
I was working in Lincoln County this afternoon and drove down to the lake for scouting purposes. From the looks of the boat trailers in the parking lot (there were eleven) one would have to think they were on the bite. Didn't get to talk to anyone fishing. I have never fished CC and know it will take time to get tuned up to the lake. I was thinking of trying CC this weekend but may have to stick to Lake Monticello. A couple of fella's from Farmerville, La were at Monticello Lake today trolling 300's and brung in a couple of 17.5" slabs. I had to wonder why they would leave Darbonne right now to come to Arkansas on a hunch....... Anyway, thanks for the info as it is much appreciated.
I just got a call from a fishing partner in Crossett. He brought home 43 Crappie from Darbonne today. Fishing the new Chart/gray Bobby Garland baby shad right in front of the spillway; trolling deep. He's going back in the morning and I gotta work! I wanted to go to the gathering there this weekend to meet everybody and catch some fish but other commitments and this upper respiratory crap (sinus) kept me locked down. Anyway, just wanted to share that information with everyone.
Sorry about you goose egg at cc; it doesn't look like I will be fishing much in the next few weeks. Work is going to keep me busy until mid Jan.; I was looking forward to fishing cc again when the bite is on.
Sounds like you came by sometime between 9:00 and 12:00. It looked like a parade of boats around 9 this am. But, you said this afternoon, so several must have showed up after I left at 2:30. There was only 2 other boats on the water (actually a boat and 1/2. I think Lucky's boat will fit in the extended cab part of his truck :D however it will definately haul in a mess of slabs!)
Sorry about your trip Bobberwatcher... I had exactly same luck couple weeks ago when I was there. like fishing in the dead sea...:(
