Does anyone fish Lake Faulkner?? Just wondering?
never heard of it but welcome to the forum
Thanks...its off of 440 in North Little Rock near Rank Video Services??
I have never fished it. But, I work just across the river and pass that way frequently. It seems to have more activity in the Spring than the Fall. When I see boats they are in the middle.
DP
I have fished it many years ago. It has monster bass...I mean monster bass. I never fished it for crappie.
Back in the 70's I was a dyed-in-the-wool green carp fisherman and I caught my share of good, good fish out of there.
If I were a bettin' man, I'd say that it would be a crappie magnet as well because there is diverse water and structure on the lake...not the least of which is the cypress swamp/tree areas. If I lived in the area I would definitely have to revisit my ole fishin' hole with a different rod, reel and tackle box donchaknow.
I'd sure like to hear the results of someone's recent fishin' trip over there.
I'd get me a google-earth map of the are or go with a gps. If you get to catchin' fish late and wait too late and let the darkness catch you, it can be tough finding your way back to civilization. (Believe what I say on this. lol)
Lots of luck. By the way, welcome to the forum!!! Tell us a little about youself in the way an introduction. You'll find friendly, knowledgable folks here that are anxious to share what they know about crappie fishin'.
Lookin' forward to hearin' from you. <><
aj
I can't even find it on Google Earth.
see if google maps street view has a drive by of the lake
nope
Try searching Google Earth using Faulkner Lake, AR. I found it when I did that.
I've heard some tales of crappie being caught here in the past although I've not tried it. Seems I recall reading that it can be hard to get into.
I think I remember a discussion about Faulkner Lake in the past. I just checked and there are several posts listed.
Use the search tab and search for Faulkner Lake in the Arkansas forum.
Good luck
Faulkner Lake is on Lynch Drive,NLR. Try to Google that adress.I grew up a mile west of the lake.I lived in North Shore Addition. From the late 50's to 65 I fished, hunted and trapped from the Arkansas River to Protho Junction. We used to take 100 yoyo's at night and only get 40 or 50 out because we spent all night going back and taking fishoff the yoyo's behind us.Most of the fish we kept were usually in the 11 to 13 or14 range andwe only kepy the crappie and the occaisonal catfish. Are the swamps back west of Faulkner still there? They were full of bass and crappie also. I suppose the area is all city now to or past 440.I have not set foot in that area since '65.I keep thinking I will go back and check things out.
I found it. From the looks of it, there does not seem to be a boat ramp. Is there?
There is a boat ramp(?) or what some call a dirt launch located right off of I-40. Going south after you cross the lake bridge, take the next exit. Go right until you see the street after the station (gas), follow it all the way down until you see a dirt path going right. It will lead you straight to the lake.
Launch is very steep and rough. Be very careful if it has rained lately or be sure your 4-wheel drive is working!
These are the conditions I remember the last time I fished it which was about two years ago.
Oh by the way, when I went I never got a bite. Lake was extremely clear!!!:mad:
That swampy lake has some big Cypress Trout. For the ones who don't know they are Grinnel or Bowfins.:D
