I have enjoyed the off topic forum but, I think we lost control somewhere in the last few days. I wish some of the langauge could be cleaned up. What do you guy's think should be done to alter this situation.

Isn't their an infraction system where users get warned, then suspended, then banned? If not maybe there needs to be. Of course that means I'll most likely get one.
The only real problem I see is that ONE of the folks who's got everybody
jazzed up is a moderator, so you can't put him on the ignore list...
I found out about that on another board - one of the mods was really
up in my grille, and when I tried to put him on ignore, found out I couldn't.
So I just un-bookmarked it and quit going on the site.
Ignore works great in most cases.
My opinion is that you ignore both of them. Don't post or respond to their threads. It will get boring, eventually, talking to your self. If after a while they calm down then let em' joing the conversation again. WE can put offenders in time out.
Problem is there will be enough people to correspond with them to keep em' interested and it will not stop. That's what I would do...no matter what they say. Both sides have been nasty mouthed and it spills over to others when they have an opinion on what's happening.
Think it will work?
Oh yeah, he said he isn't a moderator anymore so you should be able to put him on the ignore list. The other one can be put on ignore as well.

the only problem with the ignore feature or getting banned for that matter is that making up a new crappie.com account is as simple as making your bed. the only sure fire way to keep the conversation civil is to talk to the person in the thread the way you would talk to them in person. if you don't have the self control to do that, maybe you should look in the mirror at what type of person you have become that would allow yourself to talk to another human being in such an uncivlized way.

I hate to put anyone on the ingnore list as republicans and democrats both might have some good fishing information at some point in the future, but guys, if you don't want to get your blood pressure up, just don't open the political threads. I read enough a month ago to know it was gonna get worse the closer we get to elections, so I have been trying to not even open and read the stuff that looks remotely political. After reading this I did go and take a look at a copule of them and it looks like it's the same crap just a different day. It is gonna come to a point that if a post is remotely political it's gonna get locked or disappear. I know a moderator can't be in here 24/7 so let's just do our part and police ourselves. Have some self control, be courteous and if something offends you ignore it or send a PM. It's really that simple if WE will do it.

I agree Z, if you have a issue with just one or two people on here why do we all have to suffer. If you are a member, you have PM. Somebody offends you use PM and not the OTF to try and bring us all into it.
If I'm not mistaken they can block your IP address and even an entire range of IP adresses. So you would have to create an account and use it from somewhere other than where you normally are.Quote:

As to the "infraction system" that SuperDave alluded to ... yes, we do have one.
Consider the Site Rules as your "warning".
Consider having a Moderator delete your post, thread, or edit any part of your post (for conduct unbecoming a Crappie.com member) as your "second warning".
Consider that, should you continue to break the site rules, you will be Banned !

thank you crappiepappy. i was keeping my kids from getting on the site after seeing those two posters posting obscene and vulgar posts to each other.
You also have someone that is posting Threads to get something like this going and then sitting back and watching the fireworks. They should at least be given a warning also. if your going to be fair about it.
if i'm not mistaken he said both offending parties were banned.
I think I know who your talking about, and I'll remind you right now- There is no harm, none, in posting a new thread that conforms to rules. Now, if someone is going to reply to it in a nasty fashion and or demeanor which contributes to adversity, then that action is done by one person and one person only. It's true Bandit. It's something that Hannity has been preaching for quite awhile. Things have become complacent, and now that's not enough. Spread the wealth? How 'bout working for it? Goverment should help those who are incapable of helping themselves. Beyond that, if they would keep their sticky fingers out of the peoples pockets, stop giving the worthless a free ride, then they might tend to stand up and help themselves for a change. Now that's the kind of change I can live with.
So let me get this right....You guys want to be taxed more cause the poor rich guys have been carrying you for all this time??? It's simple, check the box where you want to pay more on your W-4 form. Send anonymous donations to Trump and Steve Jobs, I'm sure they could use the help :rolleyes:
40% of the top income earners aren't rich. It's the middle income families paying the majority of the bills in this country.

Amen Crappie Reaper. I work hard for what I make. I don't make a ton of money, but between me and the wife we do okay. The kids don't go without, the bills are paid, and I still have a little left over to buy bait and gas, so how can I complain. I live close to Cincinnati, Ohio and drive through quite often while out working. You see the "poor" people driving Escalades and wearing designer clothes, overweight for the most part, but with all the time in the world to stand on the street corner just hangin' out. Poor misfortuned single mothers with 5,6, however many kids, being paid more and more with every one she has. We are the only country in the world who incentivize laziness and irresponsibilty.
