Does anybody know a chemical I can soak that Superglue loose with?:(
I was trying to learn to tie Eyebals to the hook and left the bobbin too close to the Eyeballs and some of the superglue ran down the thread and inside the bobbin. I guess I gotta stay off the PC while tying!:p
If you Google up [super glue removal] there are lots of homr cures. Most use acitone. I'd pitch it. ole Mike

YEP Illinois is right Acitone is about the only thing that will break it out of there.
Soak it in a small jar of Acitone and then use a pin or bobkin to break it up. I work in the jewelry repair business and people try to repair stuff all the time with super glue . When it doesn't work then thry bring it to us and we have to clean it off before we can work on it. Trust me on this one.

Thudpucker, heat breaks down superglue. You could heat up a boykin or other small needle and push it through the bobin, or you could heat up the bobin and push the boykin through. As some one else stated, overnight soaking it in acetone or nail polish which is usually found around the house will soften it then you might be able to push a boykin through it. Good luck.

Like Gene said... heat is the answer. Just hold the metal tube of the bobbin over a lighter flame and the superglue will burn off very quickly.
By the way, you can use this same technique to keep those little superglue tubes fresh for a LONG time. In the past, I would open one of the things and it would become useless after a few days because the glue would harden in the tip, etc.
Now I use a hypodermic needle whose base fits snugly onto the end of the glue tube. When i am done with using the glue, I just let the glue harden in the needle. When i need the glue next, I just hold a flame under the needle, a little "puff" of superglue burns out, and the glue can be used just as if you had only opened it a few seconds ago.
I have kept these little tube usable for months this way getting every last drop out of them.
I got this tip long ago from a guy that builds model airplanes and it works perfectly.

One of those will work. I should know by tomorrow whether I get a new Bobbin or get to keep this one!
With the heat just use enough to melt the superglue and not crack the insert

I did just what FatMan suggested. I got it all cleaned out over a burner in the gas stove.

Glad to hear it worked out, as I knew it would. I used a lot of superglue in my other hobby of custom turning pens and pencils of all sort of wood and antler. The plugged bobin was a little bitty problem compared to some of the thing I've come against. Superglue hasn't whipped me yet. It is great stuff but not as bad as some make it out to be.

One thing messing with these Jigs has taught me is where to scrounge for 'stuff' like Dog Hair, and in the second hand stores and yard sales for the ladies garments that have the 'stuff' for glitter etc.
However, I'm also learning that I'm not even a 'fair hand' at tying these things.
If it ever warms up, I'll go see if any of my handiwork will catch fish.
