Trying this for a Crappie Home

I got this idea from a bunch of you guys. I was wondering what you all thought. I have a bunch of old siding and was wanting to know if it would be ok to use. I thought I would drill a hole through a solid block and run rebar through it. I got this from tacobender so thanks. Then I would put a piece of whatever size pipe and then bend the rebar so it will not come off. I thought I could then take some self drilling screws and fasten siding in whatever pattern to form branches. I could cut the nailing flange off of the siding to save and few hang ups. Anyways tell what you think. You are all a smart bunch so I know I'll get some good advice.

Not sure I would use siding. 1/2in rebar will be hard to bend, use 3/8in.

What do you guys think would be wrong with viynal siding. Does it give off some kind of toxin? I know it will grow algae on it. Just look on shady sides of houses. Just wondering what you all thought. I was going put some out this weekend but I don't want to do something harmful.

Don't see anything wrong with the vinyl. Won't rot and the algae will grow on it. Let me know how it works.

I believe some newer vinyl siding does have an algae / mold retarding agent
incorporated into the plastic.

why not roll the siding and make it kinda like pipe?

I wouldn't put it in a Corps lake. My luck, I would catch a fish cop or a ranger in a bad mood and I'd be slapped with a fine and court appearance before the Federal magistrate.
