A few nice ones today.

I went to a private brake south of Dumas this morning, the second time I fished it. It's a small but pretty body of water, and it was a really enjoyable day. Couldn't find any keepers all morning, fished till noon with no keepers and four small throw backs. Between 12 and 1:30pm I caught 8 nice black crappie. Caught them in 6 fow, 5 ft. deep on a 1/32 oz. jig with a pearl curly tail tube.

Thats some good looking water for crappie (and gators!). Very nice looking black slabs.

Went to Cane Creek today, the bite is better than it was last week. I caught 8, but 5 were less than 10 inches. The 3 keepers were 10.5 11, and 13.5 inches. It looks like the bite is about 2 weeks behind last year. If the weather stays cool they should be good in a week or two.

Thanks for keepin' us updated, Jerry. I can't wait to get down there for some of them big ol' black crappie. Any thoughts on a little get together down there like last fall?

Sounds good to me, it'll have to be in November if we want to camp there everything is booked for October. But it'll probably be Nov. before it gets real good anyway.

I sure would like to try it sometime. Not sure on pulling my big boat that far. Can you access it well enough with a small flatbottom with a trolling motor? Would like a chance to catch one of those big black slabs.:cool:

Nimrod, a flat bottom would work just fine. Last year Lucky fished from a plastic boat with a trolling motor on each end. If we do have a get together you can count me in.

Sounds good, Jerry. We will try to start getting stuff going in the next couple of weeks as far as dates and stuff.

And Nimrod, sure hope you can make it. A small flatbottom and a TM is all you need. The fishing grounds are a little less than 1/2mi away from the boat ramp, with several good spots on the way...:cool:

Jerry those are some perfect eating size fish. Sorry I missed the post the first time. I should have known you would still be after them. I am going to have to come up and get you to take me sometime. I now work a week on and a week off. Wife usually occupies my weekend but if you have a day off during the week sometime let me know....
