welcome to the forum
Welcome, I fish Conway (Gold Creek), the Upper Little Maumelle, and the Lower Little Maumelle. Right now all is a little slow. I just started spider rigging last year and have had great success. Gold Creek (the pond) is a great place to start. Not a lot of things to get hung up on.
The lower part of the LMR is good as well. Right at the mouth is the best spot that I have found.
rieve....and LRJoe...thanks !!
LMR was the very first place I tried this 8 pole rig....and the first fish was a 2 lb Channel Cat !! No crappie that day... That was a Hoot that was.. I was wondering how this rig might work drifting over the Old Road Bed on Lake Maumelle from the Chimmney out toward the southeast. I have caught em there just messing around with single jig pole. I am using Jigs only at present...hence "Jiggyback". I saw a thing that showed using a drop shot with a 3 way swivel then U get 2 baits per rod....for a total of 16 baits. Seems a bit much to keep up with...anyway, I want to try this in Maumelle... any pointers are welcome. Thanks again.
Welcome to the forum Jiggyback, from lower Arkansas.
Welcome aboard. I enjoy spider riggin myself, however, ceb is master of all things spider riggin. He used to get on here, but i'm sure he has been busy since he just got married and studying to be an old sawbones.
CEB got me going on it. My bro in law started at the same time I did, and that sucker has become a near master.
Welcome
And if you can tell us a thing or two about catching fish on Lake Maumelle (the Dead Sea) you will get very popular with those of us that live within 10 minuets.
DP
Amen to that. I know DRPEPPER lives about 1 minute from me. The Dead Sea has not been an area that produced jack crap.
Have yall tried pulling cranks on Lake Maumelle? I have never been there but from what I have heard it has little to no structure in it so the crappie should be suspended in open water. Pulling cranks allow you to cover a lot of water in a short period of time so you maybe able to find them. This is my first year to pull cranks and I have caught a lot of fish at Greers Ferry during the month of July when up until now the only time I caught fish there was at night.
Oh I almost forgot Jiggyback welcome from Batesville.
Well...thanks everyone.
I'm going to LIKE this place.
Yeah...The Dead Sea... It is the the long running term used for that water. Never really have got on the Crappie in big nmbers....always hit and miss. Just trying to figure it out better being so close. Maybe it should be called "White Bass Bay" But if i figure this spider thing out there....I will share.
SO...I love Oxbows the most. In fact those ole muddy water, Cypress lined, snake crawlin, shallow lakes have always produced tons of White Crappie for me. Seems the further southeast ya go toward Dumas....the better and bigger the fish.
Does anyone know of some good Oxbows close to LR that are open to the pub?? Just to ask...thanks.
I don't, but I am headed to the LMR today about 4pm. I will be spider rigging at the mouth of the LMR and the Ark. Just up from the boat ramp about 1/4 mile on the point.
jiggyback lake hensley near pine bluff is the closest oxbow i can think of.
