Where does everyone here get their Bamboo or 'Boo' ????
I'm always looking for a patch beside the road where I can just pull off and get what I need. Folks that got it are always wanting to control it, just ask.
how tall does it get? is it really noticeable?
I got a neighbor 3 doors down that has some spreading pretty fast now. (I live in the country.) When his Dad was alive he planted it and it's beginning to take over. The older boo is probably 30' tall but most is >20'. Last fall I cut off two other neighbors about 1/2 mile away. It's in alot of places within 3-5 miles of my house and everybody I've asked pleaded that I come back and cut more.....ANYTIME!!:D It takes over a person's place as bad as Kudzu does.
Yes, it's noticeable. I've seen it lots of places, once you start making boo fish attractors you'll see more boo.
I am planning on making some "boo buckets" and other structure using some cane/bamboo that I have on some property I am buying. My question is, can you drill holes in the segments of bamboo therefore decreasing the buoyancy? I would like to use as little weight as possible to sink the stuff. Also, by drilling these holes in the bamboo will it make the 'boo decompose/rot faster?
Here's my boo getter. I just go off road near any river/wet area and boo's everywhere.
AriHawg, you talk about doing A LOT OF EXTRA work. This must be your first build. You will learn to use the KISS method of building these things. The less you touch it the less TIME/MONEY you have in it. Good Luck
You're right it is my first build. I was expecting quite a bit of extra work drilling the holes, but I've got a pretty good source of free labor. But I imagine you're probably right that it's more trouble than it's worth.
Any advantage of placing some PVC trees with the boo buckets?
That stuff is all over the place here in Arkansas. I have seen it over 20 feet tall and as big around as my forearm. I plan to use a bunch of it just shortly to get ramped up for the Fall feed. <><

sac are you stripping the leaves off that boo? I have seen it both ways.
I put few sprigs in my yard about 7 years ago. Now I have enough for tomato stakes, flower markers, beating my wife and all sorts of things. I even taped together several pieces to make a 40 foot pole to a toy out of tree for my kids. I gave some to a neighbor and they had to have it removed by the truck load this summer.
Backtocrappie, do you know what variety you have? if it grows in Va it should grow here in Oh.

I put a wanted listing on Craigslist. I got three people to email me about it.
