I've been told cut Carp makes good Catfish bait.
if you can get carp from a pound down to around 3 inches long you have dynomite flat head catfish bait if you keep them alive and they are fairly easy to keep alive
i like catching my carp on wheatie balls with a tiny drop of anise oil extract on them i make them prior to the trip it seems after they sit all night in the fridge they do hold up better with this in mind happy fishing
First of all, how did I miss out on this forum?
Plain ol' sweetcorn - straight out of the can - works great. It's about all I use. Most of the really serious carp guys use boilies, packbait, or some type of particle (seed.)
I caught a couple of carp today (7 and 9#) on my float rod and centerpin reel. Fun! :D
Never got try it but I read once "Wheatie balls" were the single best bait ever conceived. Crushed Wheaties (cereal) mashed into a ball with milk or water.
yeah you can even just take some wheaties cereal with you and when you get there make them as you need them just get a fist full and dunk your hand in the water pull your hand back out then start squeezing you will get the picture you cant really mess it up its kind of weird that after you form them into a ball for fishing with them the turn sweet smelling i guess thats why carp like them
Years ago, my Cherokee Indian neighbors would Carp fish and catch them left and right. Their recipe was Wheaties, strawberry pop, and a drop of anise.
i carp fish just as much as i bass fish and the best flavorin to use is what ever kind of fruit is growing on the trees for ex. now u could use grape
Growing up we used to make our dough recipe with flour, water, sugar, vanilla extract and some shreaded cotton balls for toughness.
Sweet corn soaked in cherry koolaid overnight. works great and chum with it also. I use light tackle and have a blast.
That Jello-doughball recipe works fine in the link that greenchicken posted. Strawberry Jello seems more effective. In backwaters and places with little to no current, I try not to use a sinker or float. One of those small treble catfish hooks with the spiral wires on the shanks is my favorite hook. I haven't intentionally fished for carp or buffalo in several years, but caught my share this year.
