80 lb minn kota pro, 24 volt,,,absolutely no question about it. all the thrust you need and lift assist
Having read the previous posts I still wonder why you should choose one or the other? I am also looking to upgrade an All Terrain that I have to either a Maxxum or a Terrova.
Would certainly like some input from people who use them on why the Terrova is better than the Maxxum or vice versa.
Thanks,
Vance
I got the minn-kota terrova 60 inch shaft,80# thrust, auto pilot, and co-pilot with a quick connect mount...About $1,700. The co-pilot makes it wireless! So far we have had it out 6 times and have not used the foot control yet. You can operate it from any place on the boat. I have it on a 21" aluminum boat and fish in a lg. river with a 6 mph current. I bought from a dealer that provides service on electric motors. Will have this along on next years trip to K.L. This is 24 volt and I have 2- 2 bank chargers on board with 10amp out put. This charges the batteries in about 6 hours. The 80# thrust is more than enough.........
One more thing.......It is easy to put in and out of the water much better than My 60# thrust maxxum. and a lot lighter.......
Depends on if you want cable drive, or power drive...Personal preference I think, but I like the cable steering...auto piolot and co piolot would be nice though.....Glad I don't have enough money to have to choose....:D:(:D
I am with you pstone...glad I was born handsome instead of rich.
For those that have the Maxxium. Is the cable steering easy to use? I have an older cable sterr and I despise the thing. Also is there a switch so you can let it run on its own. Why do you prefer the cable over the elec. This is the first time I have heard that.
The cable is easier to use than the old ones. I like the cable because I don't have to look down to see what direction the motor is pointed. I know from the position of the foot pedal. I'm still kinda intriged about the auto piolot and controling the tm from the back of the boat though...Not entirely sure which way i would go if I had the decision to make.
Never used anything but cables until this spring-took off a perfectly good 6 month old maxxum and replaced with a terrova auto pilot. I kept maxumm in storage, just in case-will never go back to cables. Never ever thought I would say that!!!
Most everyone I have talked to agree that once you use the Terrova you will never be satisfied with anything else. Thats what I am going to buy anyway.
Max Pro 80# thrust No Question solid motor without a dought!!!!!!!!!!
