New
Hi I'm new and this is my first post. I just had a quick question. My dad takes me and my brother fishing just about everyday and we alot of the time go to Rockland. I fish for bass alot but sometimes I fish for crappie, but I have never caught 1 at Rockland. So my question is what part of Rockland should I try for crappie? Also I fish below the dam some but never have caught a crappie there either.
Thanks, Grayson.

I know what you mean. Just going fishing is as fun as it gets, even if you don't catch anything.

Welcome to our forum from the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains! I would love to give you some advise, but I have never fished Rockland Lake...hopefully someone will read your post and share some information about Rockland....Tight Lines!

Grayson welcome!! I dont no allot but do you buy your bait from a bait store/shop that is near to this body of water? I have allways found a place like this to be a great learnning tool. If there is one( dont no there is?)They might be willing to tell you were and how to catch'em on were they might be found(DEPTS..) And some times i run in to the problem were being in there store they just might simply not volunteer to give up none of there secret spots! Thats when i start looking at what they keep in stock and being in retail all my life look at whats bought out ( the empty pegs) Hope that may help ya the yankster :)

Thanks guys. By the way Rockland is a recreation area on Old Hickory Lake.
Thanks, Grayson.

Hi Grayson. Welcome aboard crappie.com. I fished with my son today and we didn't get a bite, but we had fun and he said he wants to sign up at crappie.com and post with the rest of us. Keep going with your Dad and brother and have a lot of fun with them!

Thanks guys. I never knew they sunk cedar trees at saunders ferry. I might see if I can try there today. Last night was ok. Near the end I caught a 1pound 6 ounce redeye(coosa) bass. And a baby largemouth but those were the only fish. Thanks again for the help.

And if what the yank doesn't do, walk up to just about anybody with crappie equipment in their boat in any parking lot, introduce yourself and tell them whasup. Hat in your hand a beggin. Sounds worse than it is. All you want is technique, not honeyholes, and be sure to say just that. Most true fishermen will step up and spare you a few minutes to help you along. If you're bankin, a slip float and minnows is a good start. Adjust depth till you find where they are. No fish in 30 minutes, pick up and move. Good luck and tight lines.

I was able to go to sanders ferry yesterday and today. Yesterday we caught just one little bass. Today I caught a keeper yellow bass. I also saw some guys next to us catch a few crappie. Thanks for the tip mudbug. Next week when schools out we are going there early morning during a week day and spending a few hours there. Thanks guys, again.

OK, we will probaly be going there quite often, its a neat spot. The guys fishing next to us yesterday were shoing my dad some pictures of fish that they had caught. My dad said that they had caught quite a few stringers of crappie and some bass and one big catfish. Maybe we will be able to catch a few crappie before they go back to deeper water.
