Huge Crappie
I went to the taxidermy shop today to pick up my wifes fish, and there was a crappie there that would be the state record. 5lbs 9oz. I saw it with my own 2 eyes. The fish was 19 1/2 inches long with an 18 inch girth. AWESOME FISH. By the way, the man that caught it did not want to claim his record...

central part of the state. Thats all i know.
-
Correction... It would have been a new world record... I do not understand why a person would not want to submit a WORLD RECORD fish..It makes me wonder how he caught it.
-
I would have claimed it if I had caught it with dynamite.:D

Like to see this baby and would like to know where it came from?
The white crappie record was caught here in White Co, in Little Mingo creek.
I was told by my barber who was raised in this area of the county that the guy was fishing off the road (Hwy 64) when he caught it

My bad! If I had scrolled farther, I would have seen the picture of this Baby Huey, dang what a crappie!
-
4 09 perhaps but I'm a doubter.

Here is another pic. This is the weight, after sitting in an ice chest all day long, and hanging in the freezer for 2 months.

Very impressive crappie. I had one to show also but I......ummm.....seemed to have misplaced it. :) What a hog! Thanks for sharing.
-
With it being in a freezer that long and considering most all of the moisture has been removed from the fish and it still weighs 4 lbs, it is not a stretch at all to say that it weighed well over 5 lbs when it was alive.
Incredible fish!!
-
sticking with 4 08 or4 09 Still a monster
-
I cant say for sure what the real live weight was. All i know is what i was told..The taxidermist said that the man that caught it does not care about recognition for it.He also said the same man caught one last year that weighed 4 10...
-
I can't see the pic!! I see red x's
-
I saw the crappie shortly after it was taken in and on the same scales it weighed 4lbs 8ozs when we weighed it. I was told it weighed 4lbs 9ozs when it was first weighed at the taxidermists shop and this was after 3 hours in an ice chest. The same angler had caught nearly an identical crappie previously but ate it!
-
The biggest crapie that I have caught so far has been a couple of 2 1/2 lbers. It is truly amazing to see just how big these things can get!:)
-
Slabbandit. If this is the same fish were talking about,What is the first letter of the taxidermist name, where it is at.
-
Would love to see it when it's done, too!

Hi Shot,
Not trying to step on your toes..."D" is a good friend of mine and we weighed it just a few days after he took it in. By the way, those are some awesome pics that you took.
I hope to get some pics of it finished before it leaves the shop. I know that he'll do an awesome mount!:)
-
Slabbandit , you talking about Kenna's cousin ?:D He does some good work.;)
-
Yea NIMROD,
He is the best I ever saw on crappie!:)
-
Not stepping on my toes.Just making sure we were talking about the same fish.As far as D goes he's about the best there is in my opinion.
-
Shot , what you hiddin from ? Wanted by the law or what? LOL:D
-
The'll never catch me alive..

Huge crappie but don't think it is any world record. Maybe 4.09 definately not 5.09. Our state record is 5.olbs and was weighed next day and weighed 5lbs even. Was photographed and witnessed and the picture looks about the same size as this one.
