I am in Louisville and wish I knew one here also. Are there any clubs around anywhere?
I'm in E-town and don't know of any around here, would be interested in joining or possibly helping organize one.
I live in southern part of the state and would love to join one if it were available.
I vote Crappiepappy to be our President... All in favor??? Of course this vote would mean he would need to tell us how to start our new club and help organize. You could have the a meeting every once in awhile, organize trips to set out crappie beds, organize poor man tournaments and all sorts of other good stuff. Sound like a plan?
I 3rd that motion!
I like the idea of a Ky crappie club. CP for president:).
Take care,

Second. That vote.
for the vote of confidence .... but, I have to respectfully decline any such nomination.
I do well keeping up with my Moderator duties, working, helping my Mom, and finding time to wet a line every now & then.
Sorry to disappoint ya'll, but such a undertaking is beyond my capabilities, at this time. Hope you understand.

A crappie club is not hard to form. The main problem is the geographic location of it's members. Those who want to belong are scattered thru out the state. The following suggestions might help.
1. Club meetings - it is impossible for members to meet. To long of a drive. The solution would be to have a weekend get together once per month. Schedule the meetings as such:
Jan - KY Lake (west)
Feb - Nolin (center)
Mar - (east)
This way each part of the state will have a get together every three months. Some members could schedule thier vacation.
Good luck
We understand -----soooooooooooooo when's the first meeting?????
I've been wondering when you all would get with it and start talking about it. I've noticed on some of the other states forum's that crappie clubs are popular. It would definitely be a good thing for us to get together and learn from each other and even help add service projects to improve the fish habitats in our lakes on a larger basis. Come on CP, "you cannnn doooo iiiiiiiiiittt".:D
Yes, there is a crappie club in Western Ky.
Twin Lakes Crappie Club, it's located in either Murray or Hardin.
I am not in the club but I have fished one of there open tournaments and I occasionally fish with a guy that's a member of the club. I believe Joey Briggs is a member of the club and can give you all the details. He is a member on here. I think he and his son are gone to Grenada for the Crappie USA tournament this weekend. I am sure if he sees this thread he will reply.

Does Twin Lakes have an email site with more info? What info do you have for the 3 and 24th tournement?
We can still start organizing some get togethers and see how it goes.
A post is coming real soon on some thoughts of starting one. Be watching.....
Are you'll talking about "tournaments" or "get togethers"? I hope its get togethers:)
Hey crappiepants, are you in paducah? we have a newly formed West Tennessee Crappie Club and are doing tournaments on Reelfoot (and probably other lakes too later) pm WTC on the Tennessee Board for details. Just started this winter and is currently very informal, but a bunch of good guys.

We're thinking in terms of get togethers and one-on-one hookups .. to start out with .. see how those go, then maybe consider tournaments & clubs & such.
Even get togethers may have some problems to deal with. Not all lakes have a place to "get together" ... our interested members are few and far between, and scattered all over the state ... gas prices may affect some member's ability to attend ... etc. That's why it's still in the "talking about it" stage.
Jigboy is gonna put up a seperate post about it. We may even have to have a poll, to see which lakes to consider. Or we may just pick a place & time, & see how it works out.

CP the post is up, but it's for the lou. area. Jigboy and I thought we could start small and grow it from there. I hope that starting a local club doesn't step on anyone's toes. We figure we have to start somewhere.
Metro Louisville Crappie Club is open to anyone that wants to be a part of it, but, like I said we're starting out small and going from there.
The post is titled Metro Louisville Crappie Club.
It will be both....
Yes i am in Paducah. I have three other friends that go fishing with me and we can all catch pond crappie very easily but two of us have boats with outboards now and are struggling to find crappie on Kentucky Lake. We go and meet for breakfast and then go to the lake. We have our own tournaments but there is nothing at stake except bragging rights. We would like to join a club where we can make new friends and learn from them and maybe they could learn from us (although we dont know enough to teach anyone lol). We would like to join a club where tournaments arent really taken seriously and everyone is friendly and likes to have a good time. We are out there to catch crappie but the main thing for us is just to have a good time. Basically i was just looking for another group of guys that are like us and maybe we can get together and learn from each other.
I live in Lexington, would be interested in a club. I have only been crappie fishing a few years now, so might not be much at tourneys, but the club meetings and get-togethers and such would be good.
