Kentucky Lake 4/3-4/6
Well I was on vacation and my son was on spring break and we tried our luck on the big water. The lake came up 4 feet while we were down and the fishing was tougher than I like but we still caught a few.I think our total was 43 keepers for three days of fishing.Got there Thursday afternoon and fished Ledbetter for about 3 hrs, fished Blood River Friday,Saturday and Sunday till about 2:00 and headed back home. Most fish caught 15 to 22 foot but caught a few shallower on Saturday floating a hair jig under a bobber in about 10 ft of water.I found out that my 9 yr old loves to fish as much as I do. Even though the fishing and weather was less than desirable we both had a big time. I fish down ther quite a bit but think this has been one tough spring and am starting to wonder if the better fishing is still a couple of weeks off? Will try to post some pictures later today or tomorrow.

Sir,
You may have not caught many fish but from the statement that you made I think you may have had one of the best fishing trip you will ever have.

Good looking fish being held by a happy young man. You made the right decision by going. The smile on his face is worth more than you can say! :)

Not only are you are one lucky man Slabdaddy, your son is one lucky boy, Congratulations on a job well done to the both of you, you all did great:):):).

Great job and he has the right hat on to.

Glad you had a good trip and I'm always happy to see someone taking a kid fishing! WAY TOO MANY dads out there that are worried about bragging to their buddies about how many fish they cleaned rather than how much fun they had w/ their kids. Also, for those of you that have moms and dads that are getting up there in age be sure to take them every chance you get.......you will be glad you did.

Was that you?
Caseydrew,Do you fish out of a red triton? If so I spoke with you that weekend and you had what looked to be your mother and father with you.You all were casting a brush pile and we were casting down a bank.I usually take my dad and son on spring break but my dad really didn't want to go down with the rain and subpar fishing report so my son and I headed out anyway!

Yes, that was me....pretty cool we ran into each other. Right after we spoke w/ you we switched over to bass fishing and ran over to LBL since the crappie didn't want to chase the jigs we were casting. Didn't wear the bass out, but we did catch several smallies and largemouth. Dad ended up w/ a smallmouth that weighed 4lbs. 11oz. and I haven't seen him that happy in a while and Mom also had a pretty good day #'s wise. We had a blast!

Yeah Slabdaddy those pics say it all! I've seen the same smile on my grand daughters face. Priceless! You fared better than my wife and I. We got to Kenlake on Sat. 4/5 and fished Ledbetter that eve. and the next morn. Only caught a handful and kept a couple. Mostly in 20-25' at 10-15 down. Seemed to do better w/ naked hook and minnow. Went to Jonathan on Monday (great weather that day). Most of the fish were in same depth of water. I tried all sorts of colors and types, but wife still did the best. Had to give her the master angler award! None of the fish were much over the limit in size. All were females too. Ran over to Barkley...what a mess! Wouldn't even think of putting boat in that chocolate soup! Anyway we left on Wed. morn due to the nasty weather forecast, and headed east and then north to Hardy lake in sourthern IN. Caught a couple more there, but mostly smallies. Maybe will make another trip down later this year. Love Kentucky and the hospitality is super!

Yankee doodler, thanks for the kind words about KY. If we locals could control the weather and lake we would do so where folks like you and your family could have better conditions. Since we can't, I appreciate your comments.
