Took a hunting buddy fishing at Jonathon this morning. Put 34 in the boat. Fish were biting in the 10-13 foot range but still scattered. Water temp was showing 53.8 in the back. Hot color was a light green and chartruse with blue fleck tipped with a chartruse crappie nibble. I get the jigs from Bass Pro. The blue fleck seemed to be the key. We tried every other color with different color glitter and pepper but the blue flake prevailed. Fish are doing better in the morning. It seemed like someone flipped a switch at 1:00 PM and locked their jaws. The fish were busting with eggs and shad. Finally starting catching some blacks. Had a mixed bag of males and females. Hope this info helps those of you who are thinking of traveling down here. Even though the water is dropping, it doesn't seem to be dropping at a drastic rate and it hasn't seemed to bother the fish. It won't be long now before they're on the banks, as long as they don't suck the bottom out of the lake.
