RogerA down in the swap section has a Hummingbird 717, For sale. they are good units. Check it out.
Thanks Bentpole...I really don't know a whole lot about them, coming from a circa 1993ish Eagle Supra Pro ID lol any pros and cons? I have a handheld GPS, no not looking for something GPS compadable....well not yet anyway, and just trying to hold out for few years for a whole new boat and everything, just looking for sumthing to get me by until then, yet somewhat decent....if thats possible for that price range,
I think I found my answer after a little search and research......HB 565??
I just bought the humminbird 580 with gps. $325.00
HB 575 with the Quad beam. Helps when looking for brush piles. More bottom coverage and split beams that show which side of the boat it is on.
Dayton
Thanks guys. That is/was my only concern with the double or quad beam, just knowing which side of the boat whatever I am looking at is on. It would be great to have that coverage, but wouldnt do me much good if I didnt know what side I missed it on lol
The screen DOES show which side it is on.
i just ordered a humingbird matrix 47 3d... wont be mailed out till april 10th cause there not even on market yet .... the pics of the thing look super sweet. little higher then 300 but think its a good price at 500 and in between the high end and lower price units
thing i like bout it it actually shows your cone and where the fish are in your cone. plus 3d contours of the bottom...msrp is 729 but seen them online everwhere for 500
if anyone knows how a regular fishfinder works they will see advantages of this.. it gives a true reading of where fish are at...here iso ne pic i found of the graph and you can see the cone

That is sweet John!
wow thats neat....little bit high budgeted for me though right now. Just looking for something to hold me over 2 or 3 years. Not that that wouldnt do it lol, Lord knows it's above and beyond what Im looking for, but when i go with a new boat, i'll deffinately give the comprable product to that a look at the time.
Give the Humminbird 737 a look. I used one for 2years sold for 35.00 less than what I paid for it. When I upgraded my 2nd unit to color also. I was more than pleased with it and it convinced me into investing in the more expensive HB units.
It comes standard with the Quadbeam plus. A great tool for finding structure and fish.
Only drawback is it is B/W but I really liked mine.
Well guys after some help here and some searching on the forums, I decided on a 565. Just got back in from Gander Mt. Thank you for all the advise.
let us know how it works for ya... could be invaluable for the next guy who is looking for something
Thanks John. I will. I'm going to mount it this afternoon and hopefully try it tomorrow. I know I did a search on here and 565 was probably one of the most recommended units for the money. Like I said, looking to get a new boat in a few years, so when I do, I'll go all out on electronics for it, but now just looking for something descent to get buy with.
Mounted it today and tried it out. Works awesome. Nice to be able to read the depth at 30mph. Awesome detail. Brush looks great on it. Just not any fish on the brush. Hmmm
