I am going to try Old Town Lake just south of Helena. It appears to be one of the very few that has not been affected by the rising rivers.
I am going to try Greers Sat. but don't know how good it will be. If the weather is alright on sunday I am going to try Conway. I hear ya on the gas. Filled up my ford diesel the other day 3.85 gallon x 26 gallons= we are getting the short end of the stick from these major oil companies.
How bad is old town affected by the wind. It is going to fairly windy tomorrow out of the southwest. We are trying to figure out where to go.
Thanks,
Ringo
I'll be at Old Town tomorrow and likely several days next week. SPRING BREAK for us poor overworked teachers:):):D:p!! I plan to take the crappie poles, bass poles, and a bunch of yo-yo's. If one plan doesn't work, maybe the other will!!! As far as the wind-----yes, you can get out of the wind if you get up in the trees, but if you've got a big enough trolling motor, the wind ain't a problem!!
Polebender is correct. You can get into the cypress trees and be able to handle the wind. The trees are where the fish are right now anyhow.
I will be across from the gravel ramp behind Lakeview Grocery in the curve.
I've been told Old Town is pretty shallow and was wondering just how shallow it is. I'm mainly concerned about having enough water to launch a deep-v hull.
8-10 ft in most places
i think im going to conway in the morning
do you have any report on the water there.
Had a friend that said the water was really up and was trying to find out how much. Any ideas?
no i dont . i went to beverfork today water is everwhere & muddy. went there so i could run some liqud gold with the cheap gas from last year
I tried fishing earlier and it is so dang windy out it's hard to pole fish and keep the boat maneuvering correctly.
I gave up soon after I got out there.
However, later on tonight I'm running yoyos and trotlines. If you can beat the wind, join the wind.
Me and little brother looking at putting out yo-yo's at Belco tomorrow night. He wants to try Possum Fork, but with river in it and rising a foot a day, I think the crappie will shut down.
