Looks good, like it would catch fish.
Not bad for your first! If you want a few pointers then I would reverse the colors and have a pink head and tail. Then the real pointer, stop the chenille before where you did. Stop right before or a the same spot the hook point is. Also you want the thread to be hidden unless you are tying a thread neck jig and then no chenille.

Looks good Badcast. That combo is a winner in off colored water...
I agree with Skip. You DO NOT want the chennille to interfere with the gap where the fish bites your jig. Thread wrap should be neat...but only on jigs without chenille. If you use chenille, your last hafl hitches should be hidden. Here are some examples of mine you can look at.

Thanks for the tips guys. I guess Im used to segmented bodys like when I tie flies. Good point on stopping the chenille, should have known better.
Thanks
Randy
Your like me, fly tyer gone jig. Took me a few times to get that chenille tight to the head.Quote:

I gotta disagree with you guys here. I tie my chenille farther back to around the hook barb, like this woolly bugger:

I find that it prevents the marabou from fouling on the hook.
To each, his own, though. The best thing about tying is you can make your jigs to suit YOU.
Had another question, If you run the chenille all the way to the head do you whip finish and do you use any head glue.
Randy
Whip finish is more secure, but half hitches work, too.
Always use a drop of head cement.
Looks good. It sure makes you feel good when you catch a fish on a jig you made. Keep up the good work.
Buddy I sure like it:)Just send them down here & I'll let you know what the fish think about it.:D,Laying the joke aside it looks fine.
Thanks Skip, It seems hard to get the cement to the thread because of the chenille being so tight to the head. Maybe I need to back off the head a tad.
