Fished ther today till around 11 or so with no luck on crappie. Caught a few drum though. Didn't fish the runout, tried the deeper water instead. Does anyone know the story behind the boat sitting up next to the ramp? Might be interesting to hear.

Don't know the full story, but it happened Sunday 3-1-08 when the Lake was really rough due to the high winds. I saw the Desoto County Sheriff and I believe the rescue squad there that day.
Were there many trailers in the parking lot? How many folks were fishing today?
There were a good many people there today. The lower lot was pretty full.
The new fishing regs for Tennessee show a limit of 15 crappie with minimum size of 10" unless an exception is listed. I don't see an exception listed for Lakeview or Hornlake. Does this mean that the limit is now 15 crappie with 10" minimum length in the Tennessee section of the runout at Lakeview?
Note: Tennessee changed the limit from 30 to 15 crappie this year.
just got back, slow in the runout..unless you a yellow bass fisherman. Caught about 30 yellow bass and 0 crappie. Whole lot of folks on the tennessee side of the runout. Most said it was slow today, I fished 10:30- 2:00. I bet it picks up soon though.. You'll probably be able to walk across the boats in the runout this weekend. I think that boat by the ramp got swamped a few weeks ago on the other side of the lake in high winds.
I guess I'll give in and give the runout a try tomorrow. Anyone else going?
I will be there tomorrow morning to try my luck again. Hopefully the yellow bass will not bug me to much this time around.
me maybe
I called the Tennessee Wildlife folks last year about the 10" minimum for Tennessee as it relates to the Lakeview runout (there is no minimum size for Mississippi). I was told that all of the crappie must be at least 10" if you are checked in Tennessee section of runout. Tennessee did not reciprocate with Mississippi on the minimum last year from what I was told. Not sure if this is the case on the limit change this year.
Crappie (All species combined) 15 creel limit 10 inches minimum length. Man, I just read this in the 2008 regulation guide. Might want to spread the word to my buddies up here about this. Definitely new
Anyone have any definite clarification on this??? This is a messy issue if true...
No definite clarification but it sounds like the limit is 15 for Lakeview in runout on Tennessee side. If this is the case, I imagine we'll see the Tennessee Game Warden there real often. They should do a great business writing tickets over the next few weeks. Last year Tennessee enforced the 10" minimum in the runout which was different than the Mississippi regs for Lakeview.
I doubt that they will post anything at the boat ramp since it's in Mississippi. I think I'll post this on the Tennessee board to see if anyone knows of clarification for Lakeview.
I know the length limit is enforced on the Tennessee side but I still think the creel limit is that of the state with the highest limit. I remember reading this somewhere although I am not 100% sure.
I sent e-mail to the TWRA and just got this clarification back from them.
"The Tennessee limit for crappie in all waters that drain into the Mississippi River is 30 per day with no size limit. The exception is for the Mississippi River itself (includes adjacent sloughs, bayous, and all river runs and chutes, that are accessible by boat from the river proper) where the creel limit for crappie is 50 per day with no length limit. "
Again, I'm not sure but I don't think that applies to Lakeview. It does receive water from the river but not in the way some other lakes do. Who knows? The definitions confuse me sometime.
I asked specifically for a clarification about Tennessee sections of Lakeview and that was the response I got from the TWRA.
ain't this just fine. first the rain is muddying up the water, now these new reg's are muddying up the water
You won't find a crappie less than 10" in my boat on either side.
Well fellas,
I did some more checking, the State Regulation guide has 10" minimum fish with 15 creel limit for the statewide reg. However, after reading further into the regulation, Region1 which is West TN, the creel limit is 30 with minimum of 10" unless noted otherwise. A copy of the regulation is attached for specific bodies of water, if they aren't mentioned, refer to above for West TN

I talked with a TWRA Supervisor yesterday and learned that the above is INCORRECT. I was told that the limit for crappie in the Tennessee sections of Lakeview (majority of runout and part of Mud Lake) is 15 and the minimum length is 10". I was told that you cannot have more than 15 crappie per person and all of them had to be over 10" if you are chaecked in Tennessee waters on the lake. Pass the word and sorry for the wrong information. The limit was changed effective March 1, 2008. I will add a new thread with this information to make this more visable on the board.
