Sure do hope you pack a camera and snap a few pics for us of Merrisach and the refuge. I havent been down there in years so your success may feed my desire.
The river is bad out of sorts, very high, they had been letting it run free. Not sure how that impacts Merrisach (sp) but I don't think its good.
Dr. Pepper...............................please phrase that in the form of a PROMISE. :) I know the sucker is falling like a rock right now. I need 182-184 at Shepards Island to have the water like I like it.
The liner service that pushes barges plans to be in full swing by the end of the week. They are quoting forecast of 50000 CFS on the Upper Arkansas to 140000 cfs on the lower by the weekend....which means the wall of water is flowing on out. Just looking out my window, I would say David Terry is running between 150 and 125 right now. I am not much of a river fisherman. But, for my business and toon boat riding, I like anything below 25000 and less.

I haven't been to Merrisach lately, but I stopped by Post Lake and Coal Pile on Monday. The water was a little stained but didn't look bad. I might try Merrisach or one of the lakes around there this weekend too.
Gooch,
Have you heard any reports from Peckerwood?
Just talked to Keith "Catfish" Sutton a few minutes ago and he told me they moped em up last weekend. Dont know if that was poles or yoyo's though.
My neighbor has a crew of old retired guys that set up camp down there from Feb thru April and they havent caught many with the long rods this year but the yoyo's are doing ok. They said there catching many more cats than crappie and thats unusual for this time of year.
This will only make my 3rd time on the lake but I will give a report Sunday
[QUOTE=gooch;460213]If I didnt have a trip to Peckerwood planned this weekend I dont think I could take all this Merrisach talk. Sure do hope you guys take some photos from us folks that just cant make that drive.

A report after the weekend would be greatly appreciated, as I work in Stuttgart and have been looking for a good excuse to be absent from work.
Can anyone please tell me where this lake is located? Thanks.
Thanks LMBarnett. Is Peckerwood the same lake as Merrisach? I was wondering about where Merrisach was located. I am was thinking of trying Old Town in Phillips County but I would like to learn somer new lakes.
peckerwood and merrisach are 2 different places. merrisach is a backwater off the arkansas river down close to l&d 2. you can access it by launching at pendleton and motoring a good ways down to it or you can drive around to the park and launch at the lake.
