You drove from Nashville to go to the P. pump station? That's hardcore there. Glad you caught some fish.

16 would be a good day for me. Especially at Perryville. Is that the pump station at Mousetail? Any details as to how you caught 'em?
The Rookie
Other side of the river.

That ain't a bad day any time you can put a few 2 lbers. in the ice not bad!:D
I find it hard to fish the pump station I usually pull out of there and hit beech river stake mates. I guess spider rigers do pretty good there though.
Way to go Bream Reaper that's good. I always liked fishing in there. The Beech River is good also. I went to Big Sandy today. Only brought home 7. Caught a bunch of fish but no real big ones though.
So what did you catch them on, minnows or jigs?
Capps & Coleman rigs with minnows. Depth was 6' to 9' and caught the fish about 3' deep. Water temp was just about 50 degrees. WInd was about 5 to 10 and it felt wonderful. Not too hot and not too cold. Where is the Beech River by chance? I am not familiar with it.
Good catch . I might be up in that area this week . If you see a guy in a White Alumacraft , it's me . I fish around Perryville , but seem to do better father to the north .
If you were fishing the pump station at Mousetail Landing , the Beech River would be up river about a mile , just past the 412 bridge on the right .
Thanks for thie info.
Last time I fished I had to jump a log to get back in there. Is that log still there in the channel as you go back in through the channel? Haven't done very good with the crappie back there but at that time I didn't have a spiderig system either. Did catch some nice bream off the trees though.
The Hound
I did not see a log.
Good! Must be gone.

I assume you are talking about the pumpstation at beech bend. If so the water on the other side of the road is beech river. Here we call it perryville pump station. The pump station on the other side of the river mentioned in the previous post is Spring Creek Pumpstation. Just wanted to clarify. There is also two other pumpstations in the area Gumdale pumpstation, and Busselltown pumptation (on tnwr). All of these are landlocked except Spring Creek pumpstation which can be accessed via a cut in east bank of tn river just north of hwy 412 bridge.
Thanks Slayer. I had been confused about which pumpstation we were talking about. I have fished the one at mousetail before. I have seen the one at beech bend but hadn't fished it. I never thought about there being crappie there though. I always just thought of that area as shallow backwater. I guess there is a ramp right by the station for a reason though. Can you even get back to the Mousetail one at winter pool? I'm thinking I might have to try 'em this weekend. I have a lot of honey-do's but the fever is getting bad!
The one there at Beech Bend looks like a big pond but if you keep on going to the back you will see a little channel that you can take and it opens up back in there and that is where I have seen the majority of the fishermen.
Been a couple of years since I've been but from I remember there are quite a few stumps and lays downs in there to fish. Guys will also go back there and spiderig.
The Hound
Would you risk Beech bend in a fiberglass rig? I don't know if i've ever seen one in there.
Sounds like a good day on the water. I have never fished that part of the river. But sure need to learn how.
But guess when I get a boat again. I will have to fish back up river around home at Pickwick.

They normally keep the water up in perryville pumpstation, there is alot of 6-8ft water. Spring Creek pumstation (mousetail) is very shallow at winter pool. But right now the water is above summer pool (around 360'). I caught 23 keepers yesterday in the buckbushes. How long the water stays in the bushes is up to TVA. They say the water is being held up because the Miss. and Ohio are flooded.
I hope they keep it up there for at least another week. We let out for Spring next Thurs. and if the river is still up then...game on!

I got skunked yesterday at the Perryville pump station . I guess they didn't want jigs . :(
