Had a buddy whose gas was stolen from his truck at a ramp on the South end last weekend. Took the gas cap too. Lots of people from out of town there this weekend. Might not be a good idea to leave a lot of stuff in the truck.

Had something keep stealing my bait last week. But I took care of that sucker
Had an elderly neighbor years back that got siphoned on a regular basis, and he couldn't afford the loss on a fixed income. He had a dodge van and bought a locking cap. So they went underneath somehow and cut a hole in the rubber hose connecting the cap and the tank. Don't put in much more than you need at times like these. They seem to remember who they did well off of in the past and hit you again. Just food for thought.
Dang, you can't have anything anymore. My son just moved out to an apartment, and they busted the window out of his Blazer. Took the stereo all his CD's spare change and tore the thing up pretty good. The only thing yhey didn't take was the gas.
Thanks for the heads up on stealing at the boat ramps.
I had a ball mount stolen out of my truck bed last year. I was really mad. A veteran fisherman at the ramp reminded me that he seriously doubted it was a fellow fisherman. We need to watch out for each other out there. If it looks suspicious, it probably is.
My property is insured...........

WE had a guy near us years ago. And they would drain his truck about every weekend. And he broke them from it. Yes a hot wire to the lid covering the gas cap. He heard them scream and then ran out. And as they were getting over the fence . he shot them with number 6 bird shot.
he never had any gas problems again.
In 1986 I was driving a Big Truck. and my pickup had double tanks. They would drain it ever week.
I filled one tank up with gas and a 10 lb bag of sugar. They did not make it out of town. And the cops put them in jail LOL
I did have to change that tank out. But it was well worth it.

I just moved to knoxville in june of last year and In sept someone stole the dang motor off the back of my boat. Those small HP engines are hard to come by in good shape. I used it on a Tuesday night and wednesday night I noticed it gone. Never got it back. A few weeks before that, someone stole the hitch out of my reciever in the Walmart parking lot. I could have caught the theives with the parking lot cameras, but I was just stopping to get some jig heasds to go fishing. It was going to be a several hour process to have the cops review the tapes and it only took me ten minutes to buy a new one and be on my way to the lake. I regret not going back the next day to have the tapes reviewed. I hate nothing more than a thief.
At one of the ramps I used to use in NC they would drill a hole in the corner of your gas tank and drain it. That is an expensive fix. Locking gas cap won't stop a determined thief but it may get him to ignore yours and try one without it. Too bad for the next guy . Some friends of mine hid in the woods at that same ramp and caught three young boys tapping the tanks at night. After that it stopped. Not sure what happened to the boys.
I have a small cabin in the woods in Alabama that we use during deer season mostly. This year I went to put some diesel in the Kubota and all 3 5 gallons cans were gone. I have 5 deer cameras trained on the cabin and the shed. If the boys had posed for the picture it wouldn't have been any more perfect. I recognized both boys and I confronted them at their granddads. After seeing the pic they fessed up. These boys were left for the grand parents to raise and they are in their eighties. They promised to reimburse me out of their own pockets. They did not and grandma ask me to file theft charges which I did. They can not handle these thugs. It went to court in Jan and both boys are in the Marines now. If they get kicked out they do a year. The boys had been in trouble several times and were kicked out of school. I remember when you visited your grand parents and then went home but it is not that way now.
O.W. now that was a good read!
A buddy of mine was fisnin' in east tn. when he got back to the ramp, his truck and trailer were gone. Talk about a lonely feeling. They found the trailer about a mile away and the truck totally stripped a week or so later.
Neighbor had gas stolen from his riding lawn mower first of the week. My oh my.
I don't see it getting any better. Fuel prices are sky rocketing and and the sky must be the Limit. Exxon posted a $90Billion profit last year! Wages seem to be dropping and as a retired man I can tell you it hurts. Our retirement will not go up. I guess We are luckey. I have a good pension and health insurance form the company I worked for. Although our health insurance has increased 300% in 5 years. I feel for some of you guys who will not have any pension or insurance when you retire. Medicare is great but you still have to cough up 20% plus medicine, glasses and dental.
