Welcome to the form. Did anyone tell you that the new guy had to take all of us fishin in there honey hole?
We look forward to joinin us and feelin us in on what up around your neck of the wood.
I havent been out yet this year but its time.My brother and I are going out Saturday looks like the weather will be right.I usually fish portia bay its not too bad but I havent caught any real slabs there.
I fish lake Charles a lot. Look for them in the cove at the end of the dam, on the bank inside the state park boat launch, in the cove by the baltz addition, and on the bank on the back side of the camping area. Hitting those spots should locate you some crappie. Good luck and be sure and post your results. I also fish on Poinsett. State Park cove and the first cove off the dam on the east side of the lake have been good to me.
I have a map of all the brush piles on Poinsett. If you would like a copy, please send me a PM with your email address and I will get it out.
Thanks for the info arkie Ive fished some of those spots.Ive always done well around the campground but havent caught any slabs over there.have you caught any good ones there?
thanks for the offer LRJoe.I sent you a PM forgot to include my e-mail ill send it now
Living and guiding in Hot Springs but I still have a family and house in Paragould and used to fish Charles and Poinsett alot. Folks say there's crappie in Frierson but I've never caught one out of it. Anyway, here's links to a couple of hidden pages on my website that are maps of Charles and Poinsett you can print. The Poinsett map is actual brushpiles and the Charles map is the outline of the stump fields.

I also have two gps files with these waypoints if anyone wants them. Just email me, the address is on my website. Only thing is they are from 2004 so can't guarantee the spots are still there.
Thanks Darryl.those should be a big help.
I used to love to fish Ashbaugh when I was living in Jonesboro. That thing had the biggest brim that I have ever seen. How did they screw it up?
I live about 10 minutes from ashbaugh dont fish it much though.some guys were catching a few last week off the dock by the pump station they had about a dozen keepers each.they looked like 10 or 11 inch crappie.the lake looks like it back up to normal that the most water ive seen in it in years.a few years ago the yellow bass got so bad they said thats all you could catch.they had a fish kill and its just now about to recover.
A few years ago they drained it because of the yellow bass, After they drained it, it hasn't been anything like it once was. I hope they got the filters fixed on the big pump on the back side of the lake, if not they will have all the yellow bass back in there soon.
hey LM they got rid of the pump all together and the lake has more water than ive seen in it since they drained it.I think its making a comeback
If any of you guys are up this way and want to try ashbaugh again id love to go with someone whos fished it some.
