Yes His Name is Crappie Keith and yes they work!!! I used them and have put them to the test against friends using tear drops and waxies and out fished them at least 3-1. When used with what he explains as a vertical fishing sytem and a flasher they are deadly.
Joe
I havnt used them, but he makes some real nice looking jigs. I'm a hair jig man myself. He's does look good!
So what if it is an ad. There are people on here that sell jigs!!!Quote:

I believe they are calf tail. I Bought a few from him this winter and they look good. He ties a nice jig. I will be trying them this spring, though I have a feeling they might work better thru the ice, but I should not pre judge. Pop
I have never met Keith I found him and his J.I.G on another site and bought a few and used them. The man asked a question and I answered. And maybe it does sound like a commercial but believe me he does'nt need my help selling he is busy all the time.Quote:

What is the best way to use such a light jig?
The only way to get any casting distance with a tiny jig is with a float (or on a fly rod.) Of course, if you're ice fishing, casting distance is not necessary.Quote:

Thanks for asking about T.H.E. Jig.
Do they work...I'd say so.It's all I'll use for pannies and I could show you 1000 pics from last year in open water and ice fishing.
I have customers in 15 states and 3 canadian provinces that rave about them.
They are 2$each with 100 fish warranty. After 3000 sold 5 have been returned due to a poor hook.I've throw them out(90).
Again thanks for asking.I do use kiptail(calf) because of the finesse nature the hair gives me.

I'll vouch for Crappie Keith also. He is a friend of mine too and has a quality and professional product.Quote:

Yo Ship....great thread you linked.
I'm big on that way of catch'n slabs.
Thanks for the vote of confidense as well.
I'm still ice fishing with late ice approaching my vaction time will get eaten
quickly.I am looking forward to ice off though. The last month(april)of ice and the 1st month(may) of open water is a hoot up here in northern Mn.
Sad to say I give up on slabs for walleyes and pike come mid May.
My guide service is taking off too.
It looks like the next step is to get my marketing up to speed.
A new website is on the horizon.
I hope y'all are having some good fishing.
not bad jigs.
Those are some gorgous mules you caught.
Thanks again for giving them a try Chaunc.
I'm curious, did your jig fall apart yet?
I chipped a little paint off but they still hit it.
Well then, there's another one not coming back.;)
Try to keep track how many you do catch on it before it goes to heck if you would be so kind and report back.
Thanks again Chaunc.
Hey Illinoisgiller,
So hows one of my favorite giller killers?
Sorry to let this out but he catches slabs too.
Did I say that,oh Lord send me down to live with the pygmies and ............

These little calf hair jigs work for sure. I picked up some of them from Keith last fall. I and my wife put them through their paces on a south Iowa lake and they came through with flying colors. They are a tough jig. Wish I had kept better track of the numbers ,but they last a long time. I lost that first batch. One to wood and all the rest to sharing with friends. lol
It's neat that Keith also shares freely the methods he uses make these neat tools work.
Mike .

Giller is gonna be droolin now after this.
We've gotten into gills so thick grown men have whined cause their elbows got sore from rearin on those gills.
I tied up a few of my own,did pretty well on them.Gills and crappies love them.Tried them on ice this past weekend ,caught some Crappies on them.First time I tried a hair jig thru the ice, usually use ice jigs and maggots.
Keith, thank you for all your tips and photos you post.I still plan on ordering a few of your jigs sometime. Thanks again.
Well thankyou Baxter1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad my posts are helping.
For me these forums I belong are truely more of a way to help others get in on more fish.
Yes I sell jigs, heck I can't give them away with all of the time I put into them, but to see a guy tye his own and actually catch fish on them well that is what puts it over the top for me.
The thanks I get is worth way more than a few bucks I'll get for my product.
Just to see a smile from something newly learned is worth it's weight in gold.
If your needing any tips ,just hollar.
It's funny how a few guys at a time come to this way of fishing Baxter1.
I got an email today were the guy said he had enough and couldn't take it anymore seeing all of the pics that I and others are posting with fish and small hair jigs.
There's a method of lifting ,but once you figure that out it's a piece of cake catching those fish and now you can hit them with any size you want because you control that.
Having a flasher will let you see how they react and then you modify until you catch one then it's all over ,but the rearing!!!!
There's not many days that if I can find the fish I'll leave skunked.
I've tasted that animal a few times this winter ,but then you can't catch what is not there.
Early spring is another hot time for those smaller hair jigs.
A hint when making them is too keep the hair close to the end of the hook.
Too long and you'll not get the hook in their mouth when they are light hitting.Your really just tring to cover the hook anything longer can be a detriment to your catching success.
There is a jig army building 1 fisher at a time.
You can help, share what you have learned with a kid.
Now let the hair fly!
Hey Keith, SWEET pics, and yes i Love Big Gills, better then crappie !!!
Have tied my own jigs for the last 4 or 5 years, mostly rabbit for the tail and chennile for the body, and i agree with the Small jig, day-in- and day out it will get you more gills. But i find that i have to tip them with a spike or 2 to get them to take it. Do you have this problem?
What happened to the last pic in never came up ? THANKS
The last one was a video.
I never need meat, never. Not a single fish in any of my posts required meat.
I do like fur too, however it does not really come in that many colors like hair does.
What size heads do you use?
Thanks to everyone that posted. You all have helped. Crappie Keith it looks like you have a good thing going and I will probably be sending an order in the future. What size is your favorite? Thanks again everyone
I almost always use 64th's and 80th's.
Everyone in awhile I'll jump to a 100th if it get really tough, but that's only in the winter.Come open water 64th's all day long.
Most that i use are 1/80 th. size 10 hook.
Talking about meat, maybe 2 days out of 10 the gills will take a bare jig no meat, but most days it takes a littel sweetener on the hook to get the gills to take it, not so on the crappie, which i have no proplem getting on a bare jig.
Any thoughts why they want some sweetener on the jig ?
Just curious, what size hook is on your 1/100 oz. jig.
THANKS
Size 12 hook on the 100th or you can go with a 10 too.
I have no idea about the meat thing.
I get gills all of the time in a 50-50 mix withthe slabs.
Shoot today we caught 30 gills/ no meat .
Not everyday is a good day fishing .There are days it gets tough ou there and you really have to work for them.
That ice fishing has to be something! I have crappie in Georgia that will swallow a jig whole with a #2 hook!!
make that a 1/0. i sell a lot of those:eek:
In the summer I catch crappies all of the time trolling for walleyes on 1/0 hooks and 1/4oz heads, however when I go for crappies I'll use my little jigs.
Although you have some nice product,I'd never jump your thread Crappieday or Slab Slayer.

Hey Keith, just wanted to let you know that i tied up my version of the jig, 1/80 oz. jig head, smallest i had, used rabbit for the body and kept it short like you suggested and tried them on the ice Sunday, at a farm pond, with the grandson. Bite was very slow, fish were tight to the bottom in 12 ft. of water. Had to put the jig on the bottom and work it up. Most took it couple of inches off the bottom, some would follow it up a foot or so, but wouldn't take it, could watch them on the Vex. depth finder.Quote:

Best color, was all black.
Blamed the slow bite, on a big weather change that was coming in, rain warming temps 40 ies to 50 ies, and a high barometer.
This could have been are last trip on the ice this season, as the pond only had 5 inches of ice, and weather is supposed to stay this way for a couple of days, with lots of rain.
But you can bet, that i will try the jig in open water. THANKS
If they were that tough you can bet meat would not have produced near the numbers.
Good luck this spring!
I know you'll pound them using a float-n-fly method.
How did I jump YOUR thread?? In my last post I was just thinking about how different Ice fishing was from fishing here in the south. I have not once advertised in this thread, and if you will look on page #1, I even gave your product good praise. And then even spoke up when someone was talking about if a person was a "friend" of yours. So tell me how I "jumped" your thread????Quote:
