Get you some good deer hair and you will notice the value of a hair stacker. Invaluable for leveling out deer hair for tying.
this might be a dumb question, but what does a hair stacker do and how does it work?
LOL the look of worry in the lab's eyes is priceless: "Uh-oh, he's got a pair of scissors and fish hook."
yea what is a hair stacker?
A stacker aligns the tapered ends of hair to give it uniformity.
Planned on using deer hair, but whats a guy to do with a new toy and no deer hair :D Hope PETA isnt looking.Quote:

Ok I would like to see a video of that being used.

All you do with a hair stacker is put the hair in it with the cut end down and then pound it on a table of something to make all the cut ends even. The stacker is in 2 parts and when you pull it apart is lets you get to the squared ends easier.
I usually don't need one tying jigs, but with flies I use it more. Normally with jigs I end up cutting the cut end again to square it off anyway.

I use a stacker for kiptail hair for jigs. I could get by without it on some tails, but I think I get a little better looking jig by stacking. Mike
