guides
Anyone recommend any guides around the aurora or devils elbow area? It would need to be someone with a big boat that wouldn't mind accomodating my Dad who is overweight bad and can't get around to well. Fishing with minnows would be preferred but only if the fish were hitting them, of course. Any suggestions? It would be for this spring. Also it would be nice if they supplied the tackle so we could just drive down.
Thanks

Go to kentuckylake.com and look for a fellow called Old Guide. I e-mail with him back and forth. If he is not able to help you he will know someone who can. You should be able to reach him through the fishing forum. Just post calling Old Guide.

Try Weakley's guide service. Brad is one bad dude. Probably the best on that end of the lake. He's on the Ky lake website.

Hi New Blade,
I am Old Guide. If you want to crappie fish and want to fish Jonathan Creek the second post is correct. Get hold of Brad. I have spots in Jonathan but tend to work more south. Also my guiding may be very limited this year due to other commitments.
Brad's site is at:

Good Guide
Not for sure where you are wanting to fish but if you are in the Big Bear or Moors area I recommend Rodney Hairgrove. He will provide everything you need. I have used him for a few years now and have no complaints. Well just one complaint. He let my wife catch a bigger crappie than me. Boy do I hear about it too. He is a good guy.

You might try Alan's Guide Service he is located on the fishing guides homepage. He fishes Johnathan Creek, Blood River and any where between.

Does any of these fish Barkley?

Weakley does. Couples years ago, he took 4 of us over there and got some really nice crappies. Just short of 4 limits that day.

Where on Barkley were you wanting to fish?

Crooked Creek area would be fine, I am fished there a few times and never done any good and would like to know if it is really bad or I don't know where and how to fish it.

I used to fish Crooked Creek some until gas got so high. Great Bay. It tends to turn on later in the spring that the bigger bays up North. Don't know why. You would think it would do better early because it is shallower but I have always done better in late April. The creek channel is still well defined there and there is a submerged bridge at the mouth.
