Thanks Bill,
That is what I have been trying to figure out. Mechanics ain't my bag. I wonder if this could be made from tupperware? Honey has plenty of square containers at the lake.:D
Didn't git to try it out. I cut up a tupperware dish and mounted it behind the xducer mount. You have too look hard to see it (tupperware). Didn't get a chance to try it out. If this works, the I know what to do. I have lots more plastic than aluminum and plenty of time on my hand now to do these "mush do" jobs.

If that works you could make a bunch of them and have a tupperware party.:D
Interesting. All of the spray shield I had seen so far were around and to the top of the transducer. These would not prevent the water spray but just keep it from going anywhere. The ones you have shown look like they would prevent the spray from happening. My only concern would be that they may also cuase air bubbles to pass over the face of the transducer. Let us know if it changes how your unit tracks the bottom at high-speeds.
I like that one. And I know it will not bother my 987 on running fast. AS it has never worked above 20 MPH and I worked on it for over a year.
PEte
Where is it listed in iBoats? I couldn't find it.
Its in this thread: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread....t=Splash+guardQuote:

Seems to be a problem on all the boat forums. So is the 797 lock up.
It looks as if one of those could be made from 2 or 3 inch piece of stainless angle iron. no welding, just mark off cut away lines, and use a metal cutting band saw....just my two cents..

Looks like they want us to solve their problems.
Same thing on the lockup issue. They want admit a problem. They need to fess up and fix the problems. That is what we all want. I can get all the lip service I need at home.:D
One thing for sure, I want throw my Lowrance away anytime soon.
Don't get me wrong, I like the 797. Just aggrevating in a couple of areas.
They'll never admit they made some boo boos. I'd invest in a SI unit if they would come up with the same features as my LCX27. I love being able to record almost 40 hours of fishing and then look at it at my convenience on my computer and get any waypoints off it I want. Just put it in my card reader and have at it. True you get much more coverage with the SI but I'm spoiled now. ;)Quote:

If U took the one in your pict and turned it upside down then mounted a couple of inches above ducer that's what I saw. It let water squirt thru ducer then hit splash guard mounted 2 inches above, they told me it worked fine & I saw no reason th think otherwise. :)
