Canepole,
can you give me a reccomendation on a pda/gps that will work with OziCE sofware and Kyhydrograhics maps. I have used the pda setup with a handheld gps but I am tired of the extra cords everywhere.
Thanks!
PS also where do I buy it?

The 2195 was a rectified unit from HP. The garmin I got from nexttag shopping. I didn't get all of the extras with the gps, only the charger.
2195 is obsolete now (of course). This is and has been a good set up for me.
As you know, ain't no gps with maps can even come close to this arrangement.
I have been using this PDA for several years. Compaq areo 2180. Pat Hahs helped me set it up or I would have never been able to figure it out. He helped me with learn Ozi also. Great Tools! Since yours is already obsolete also, I guess I will get will Pat and see what he can reccomend. If you see anything that would be good, please let me know. Maybe I can find a 2195 on ebay.Quote:

The 2195 was replaced by the 2495 (current model). 2495 has more internal memory and a little faster processor than the 2195. It runs Mobile 5, great with OzieCE. I use the wireless (bluetooth garmin GPS 10. It is current production from Garmin.
Works great. No wires. Several Crappie.Commers have seen it in action.
Yep. Pat Hahs is a good guy. I sure like him. He can help you set this up or so can I. It ain't that hard to do.
Hard to beat this set up on Ky Lake.

PS
Stay away from flash card style receivers. They suck.
Thanks Pole!
OziCE? Is this a program other than the "Ozi Trial" that comes with the Hydrografx maps? The premium version that you have to buy? I wonder if this PDA and wireless Garmin is waterproof. I also wonder why you couldn't use an old laptop with a CD drive. This is so much over my head.
Thanks in advance
OziCE is moving map software program for Pocket PC or Windows CE PDA's. It requires the full (premium) version of OziExplorer to function.Quote:

The simulator mode don't work either. I like simulators. You can learn a lot from a dummy.
The Garmin wireless is waterproof. My Ipaq ain't waterproof, but I can put it in an Otterbox. I don't fish in the rain. I am so sweet I might melt, or maybe I am a big Wuuz. Your choice. ha
You can't see standard laptop screen very good in sunlight. However it is really neat at night. Nothing (mapping) can touch KY Hydrographics stuff on Ky Lake. I don't care who makes it.
Naw. I ain't on KY Hydrographics payroll. Maybe he will promote me to a Pro Staffer. Maybe Humminbird will promote me to Pro Staffer. I know a lot about their simulator stuff. :D
Lots of maybees here.
Garmin ique 3200 is a pda with gps loaded and sd chip option will this work as you guys discuss mating the two???--shu

None of them (that we can get our hands on) will give accurate speeds below 2.5 mph. Some of the units may indicate a slow speed, but it is a pseudo reading.Quote:

I believe that statement is in reference to the fact that trolling speeds are more often BELOW the 3mph pace ... and the GPS units have a hard time, or are not capable of reading or holding a reading at speeds that slow. And, as Tom (Cane Pole) mentioned, even if they are registering a speed ... it's probably not accurate.Quote:

With the temps dropping i'll be able to head to the grass shortly and worry about speed in April. Cane Pole i reread your post from Garmin explaining bearing and direction, thanks again for all the info.--shu
I have watched a garmin 76-s for hours spider rigging and while its prolly not the right speed ,you can use your var. speed trooler to set your speed from.3 or .4 all the way up to what ever --

Well this was supposed to be a link on E Bay. I was wondering if this would work. It sold for $207. Is the price for the premium a one time fee or yearly? This is the setup I need for my maps just need to learn more.
Thanks again

I have the Ozi trial didn't know there was a trial for the Ozi CE. I have some of the HydoGrafx maps and a handheld Garmin. These will put you right on. I am assuming there is still no way to get these maps on a gps made for a boat. I would love to have a separate Eagle IntiMap with these maps. Don't understand why you can't use a card reader and install these. I'm tring to find out which way I can get these maps on the water. Need to find out which model Ipac's will work, what size SD card you need, and anything else that would help. I know I need it to be Bluetooth enabled for wireless. What other features does it need? There should be something on Ebay that will work without having to buy a new one. I don't have to have the latest and greatest.
I know the 2190,2195,2490,2495 all work. There are lots of them that will work, but I am only familiar with these. These are all bluetooth capable too.Quote:

Nope. Can't put maps on a gps yet, however Ozie is working with Lowrance on something. Whatever it is will be complicated.
The requirements for CE is on the Ozie web page.
I got a 512 meg sd card. It is almost full. I would get at least a 1 gig sd.
Once you get this stuff set up, ain't nothing can touch it as for accuracy. You know what I mean here.
Yep. I love this laptop (tablet). It is wireless too. What I like about this stuff is I don't have to beg any manufacturer for crap. If it breaks, I can fix it. Remember, 10,000 waypoints. hmmmmmmm good.
Ky Hydrographics is very accurate. I have used my 797 to verify some stuff.
I am planning on filling in the shallows with the 797 and DrDepth.
Half the fun for being on the water is using this stuff. Most of the time I will catch fishes. I don't have to catch the limit everytime I am out. I don't have anything to prove to anybody. I can't eat that many fishes anyway.
If you need help with this set up, let me know. Pat Hahs will help you too. He is a fine fellow.
