I leave my fishing gear and all electronics in the boat. I finally cleaned out my side of the garage so I could keep my boat inside safe from thieves and that brutal sun.

Thieves!!!!!!!!
No. Leave in boat, but only because boat is kept in garage. When I used to keep the boat outside, the electronics came in with me.
Leave in, garage kept.
THE BANDIT
Made a gear bag up and just made a habit of pulling my electronics off every time.
I leave mine on, but then again, $150 bucks and I'd have a new one just like it. Pulled it off a couple times right after I got it, then got to the lake and didn't have it one time....still in the house. I leave it on now.
If I had one of the $1000-$2000 units, without a doubt it would come in with me....
I take them off, just seems like the right thing to do.
I take mine off every time for my piece of mind..Worked to hard to get them to let some skumbag take them.
Take them off. Worst neighborhood, as far as theft, that i have ever lived in.
for almost 3 grand darn right i pull em off
Mine stays in. My boat is in the garage.
Bill
but, still pulled them off and stored inside. I'm an apt dweller, and when I had a boat, I had to bring in DF - TM - all my gear - prop - and battery !! (boat was parked in apt parking lot).
When using my buddy's boat (with or without him) ... DF comes off for the ride to and from the lake (same as I did for my own boats). I always heard that road travel vibrations were not good for DF's. And his boat is garaged, when not in use !!
But, if staying on lake and parking boat in a marina slip (>1day stay) ... then the electronics stay in/on the boat, until time to pack up and come home.
And I'm not talking about high end/high dollar stuff, either :p
.... cp
Boat is keep in the garage so I leave mine in the boat.
Nope. The boat has always gotten priority over vehicles and stays in the garage 24/7 when not in use. Therefore, the electronics stay on.

Keep it in a locked garage.
Leave my stuff on boat in garage - but if I ever get a 997 or something
like that, may sleep with it under my pillow, wake up and rub it in middle
of the night :D
Reason $1740 dollar 987c-SI yes it is taken off at the boat ramp and put in storage.
Now the $300 unit. Never take it off.
The reason I take the one unit off. Is the screen cover does not stay on well on the road. So I take it off to protect the Big screen.
Pete
My boat is garage kept so I can leave the electronics in it.
MINE GOES UNDER LOCK & KEY. SON-IN-LAW WITH STICKY FINGERS!
I keep my boat in the garage I no that don't keep the thieves out just the honest people.
My humminbirdie 997 & old lowrance before go on & off at boat ramp even tho boat in garage kept-car out. Two reasons don't want birdie bouncing on boat during ride to water & reason two, listen to this --friend & one of his buddies loaded car & boat on Friday nite drove all nite to fish northern Wis in AM--OH NO, taking boat cover off at boat ramp notice a rip/cut(10 inch) in cover at back end. pull cover & no depth finder-- wires cut-- & 2 poles missing.........One of places they stopped for gas while getting coffee & using restroom. Said they never left vehicle for more then a few minutes. :(
I keep my boat in garage so there is no need in removing it. Only bad thing about that is it stays in garage to much lol. Need to spend more time on the water. cw
Garage Kept.
no , Garage kept. :)
I dont take out electronics, I do remove rods and tackle box. Kept iin stockade fence back yard with 2 rotwillers. Besides, if somebody stole what Ive got Id have a reason to get something good.
bought a new df cost about 350.00bucks left it on boat in my covered dock with cover on boat along came hot weather put boat in water df read in 10ftdepth read 70ft --70ft.read15ft lowrance said that made it read crazy they said they forgot to tell you not to do that so they fixed it free they say under those condition the temp.gets well over 150plus degrees
electronics are to expensive to have them leave to live at someone else's house and boat, and the weather although they are made for the weather, aint real good for them in constant exposure
Big
I don't want to see them go byby
Due to possible weather damage I take mine in with me. Theft is only a minor consideration where I live.
On the other hand, if I were travelling with my boat I'd bring in everything off my boat that I could while staying on the road. Stuff grows legs way too easily in a motel parking lot at night.
take mine out because of thieves and weather, boat wont fit in garage :(
Boats stored out side and I don't want some one to let their fingers do the walking.
WarrenMN
I used to every time, but now I keep my boat locked up in a building I built.
no, cheap units I wish someone would steal so a can get the humminbird s.i.
its probably me but i think the connection pins can get a little sloppy with constant taking on and off
They can if your not careful.Quote:
