Looking for any suggestions, devices used to attempt to recover a light0action 7' crappie rod. Had a custom-built personalized rod built for my brother-in-law. It was gift during holidays. Within an hour of very first morning of use, he turned his attention to others, heard the @%$*(& leaving the boat. Crappie (or white bass) took the outfit.
He is devastated...any tools or methods to attempt recovering would totally be appreciated. 30-foot deep along bridge pylon.
Metal fish stringer. Open up all the "snaps", Tie it on the line, throw it out and drag it thru the area .
Dang, hate to hear that. Good luck and hopefully you can recover it.
I second what CrappieCobra33 said.... and I have even added weight to front of the stringer to make sure it stays down while being pulled.
I’d try a large weighted treble hook on a piece of staging line, probably a good idea to round over the hook points.
Know any divers? Wife lost her glasses off a dock in 22fow and relative that free dives found them on the 5th try.

Ive used a “sonar” lure before with success. A blade bait, metal minnow. 1/2 or 3/4 size and drag around along bottom.

Bud I use to catch the nuisance alligators in our county before the federal ban was lifted so I have a mold that makes weighted treble hooks, big ones. We used them to snag alligators, little ones to relocate. Anyway I think there is several of those snag hook in my shop. PM me your address and I will happily mail you one.Quote:

sorry to hear that , if a white bass took it , it might be gone for good , they have a tendency to run off to parts unknown
same if it was a catfish or drum or etc ....if it was a crappie maybe its still there ....
snagging with a big sinker about a foot under the big treble hook might work ...
depending what's down there besides the bottom
