September Sunnies
I left the bass alone for a day and broke out the ultralights on a cooler, cloudy morning with a few showers mixed in. Took pics of the first three fish caught on a 1/48 duck jig tipped with a wax worm fished under a weighted float. Water levels are really low even for this time of year. Had to fish 15" deep instead of 2' or I'd be dragging bottom. Not a fast day catching but did stick 20-25 gills.Attachment 509391Attachment 509392Attachment 509393Attachment 509394

Great looking fish, Jim. Beats sitting on the couch for sure.

Nice gills . That shellcracker looks a little mixed in the last picture. Pretty colors.
Weather is changing!

I'm looking forward to some September trips myself. Keep 'em coming!

This time of year I like fishing those cloudy days and a few showers don't hurt. Water in these shallow lakes are getting cooler, certainly more comfortable for the fish. Not that long ago fish felt warm to the touch.

Some dandy catches! Thanks for posting

Good fish from a good trip Jim. Haven’t been in a little while, hope to see some of those myself one day soon.

Jungle Jim’s jigs,
great post, here in California after July the bite stops.
dont know why, water temp isn’t that hot, but the lakes are 150-200 ft deep. The bass give us something to chase. Hoping for some fall action, before heading to the Arizona desert for fall and winter.
I found the same in Arizona in spring , red ear to 3lbs,but in fall . No action at all.
its fishing.
take care
