On a recent lunchbreak , the fish at one of the tried and true locations I like to visit were just not very cooperative . Ketched a few , but it was VERY difficult to get bit .
I put forth a fair amount of effort and then said to myself , sometimes it just is what it is ......
Said to myself it's pretty darn warm and I think we will chalk this one up to, oh well , I for sure can't ketch em off the couch .....:Rofl
As I rose from the area , I thought maybe a few quick pitches on the other side where I about never ketch any , who knows ......right ?
Well let me say this about that , that side is not very user friendly and steep and slippery , going into said spot , me gets to experience a little downhill Olympic style skiing....:yikes
So as I Go down said sloped bank with what brakes I could muster up, FLAT on the floorboard , I finally Stopped inches from the water and buried one foot in the mud at the waters edge ....
Well let me say this about that , it got NOT fun quickly , I tried to pull up from the water's edge and off came my tennis shoe , then my planted hand landed in some blackberry vines and to make it worse , to keep from going back down again , I planted my foot with only my sock on it back into said braking mud ! :banghead
Well of course there were some unprintable words said ,as I tried to figure out what the next "step" might be and it dawned on me to just deal with it , got my muddy shoe back and put it back on my muddy sock and found me a small "drier" spot and told myself , well fella you are here , let's pitch that jig mister ......:highfive
25 crappie or so later , I gave up and literally crawled on my hands and knees out of that location, the bite was good , but to be sure very tricky .....
the fish were on some old wooden bridge pylons and wanted it drug past them ever so slowly and most of them took the jig RIGHT before I would take it out to cast again . I never knew half of the fish were even on the jig , they were just there when I went to lift my set up out of the water right at the bank .....
I was using a float about 5 foot deep in 6 to 7 foot of water ....
my shoes got retired to a bucket of water and should be good to go again this week ....just saying
the fish all went free btw....
