Hello Fellow Crappie Lovers-

Like the title says, how do you get a doubled over mainline through such a teeny tiny 1/64th jig head eyelet to perform a palomar knot?
Thanks for reading and mass thanks for replying.

I don’t try feeding the double line through. I feed a single line through the eye first and then pass it back through the eye. I find it easier this way.

SuperDave explains the easiest way to tie the palomar up in his post. I do the same as he does on something that small. Rarely though do I use a palomar on a jig. Normally with jigs I tie a loop knot to give the jig some freedom to move and hang better in the water.
loop knot for the win , the rest of them knots out there are for SURE wasting time
After DWILL’s suggestion of trying a loop knot instead of a palomar, I stumbled upon the surgeon’s loop and that is the way I will be tying my jigs from now on.
Thanks DWILL!

I go through the eye twice tying a "trilene" knot. I use it on everything and has worked well for me.
I like using Sufix Pro mono line with that knot.
I'm exclusively a loop knot for jigs
I also use a loop knot a lot but tie it different. I used a knot that I’ve seen listed as “ Lefty Kreh’s no slip loop knot”. I’m sure it’s got other names but that one works for me, and Lefty was a great man for our sport. The difference I see from some knots is that properly tied the tag end point down towards the bait and doesn’t collect much trash along the way. Also, Richard Gene fishes a lot of small jigs on 2lb mono. He says that he never uses a loop knot on two pound test due to the friction of the jig when a fish is on will wear down the line and make it weak. He uses a Palomar knot tight to the eye of the jig with little line. Lately, I’m also finding some of my storebought jigs aren’t completely closed at the eye and the line will come back without a jig and a complete knot on the end of the line. Might not hurt to check before you lose a pb to that.
No need to use a palmar . loop jig around main line once pull it through the knot and pull tight . Caught thousands with this basic loop knot .
As superdave says go through eyes twice and that I would do. As for me I always use uni knot as my go to knot. I hardly break the knot with 6lb line leader.
