When you guys go to the lake or river for just a day trip, how long do actually spend fishing? :fish
That depends on which lake I go to, as most are at least 1.5hrs drive to get to ... plus it makes a difference if it's a day trip or night trip. Generally speaking it's 8hrs average "fishing". But, my situation is a little different than most, seeing as how I live in an apt complex. I have to remove everything that can't be locked up & bring it into the (2nd floor) apt, and of course load everything in the boat before going to the lake. Counting loading the boat, driving to the lake, fishing, driving home, & then unloading the boat ... that can be a 14hr trip, all things considered.
If I can't get at least 6hrs fishing time in, I usually don't go.
I can be in the TN river in about 5 minutes, the Cumberland and Ohio in 10 minutes. It takes me about 15-20 minutes to get to Lake Barkley or KY lake, I normally fish 6-7 hours.
It really amazes me how out of 100 views you 2 are the only ones who fish on the water. I am seeing this trend more lately. People want to read but not participate. :twocents
I tried fishing in the yard one time, didn't get a bite and people passing by on the road slowed down and gave strange looks. :Doh:Quote:

Sometimes just a quick glance during the day or evening. I try to come back if I have something to add. I sometimes only get a couple of hours of fishing in. I try to go several times a week and I'm within 5 minutes of probably 10 ramps here on Barkley.

I fish 3-4 times a week this time of year. Most spots are within a 1/2 hour drive from the house. Actual fishing time is about four hours each trip. Since I fish from shore or wade there is some walking to my spots, usually have 2-3 miles on my smart watch by the time my trip is finished.
Here in Georgia it’s getting HOT, so I go early just when I can see clearly and stay until the heat runs me off the lake, or the lake lice.
I live on the lake , I am blessed and spoiled. I find that 4 hours is plenty of time these days. If the fish are not on my spots , or not co-operating,
I may only stay out for a couple of hours. I have not fished " all day " in years.

Usually every trip on the water is minimum 4hrs, most times are more. But there's lots of quick trips with my feet on terra firma that I squeeze in that could only be 1/2 to 1 hour.
