Be careful out there. It’s been unbearable lately.
These are the days that the umbrella goes up as soon as I stop to fish.
Yeah, I gotta get something.
I cramped up and quit sweating cutting grass a few weeks ago. Made it into a cold shower and replenished fluids. Also gave up cutting my neighbors yards. Just too hot and too old. Hardly ever fish in the summer for that reason. Hope you doing well. While we enjoy your video's, we can wait until its cooler for more.
That heat will sneak up on ya and take you out
Last Friday on Cumberland it took a toll on my bride. We got run off to the shade by thunderstorms in the nick of time for more water and ice cream.
Guys, you are on the right track with all the comments but what I'm not seeing mentioned is something to replenish all the trace minerals you're sweating out that water doesn't put back in. Many will argue but you should be augmenting your water intake with some sort of electrolyte replenishment. Gatorade seems to get all the press but there are other brands that do the same thing. My carpenter/health nut/bicycle enthusiast buddy turned me on to something called Drip Drop and I've found it to be a huge help in keeping me going when I'm exerting in the heat and humidity. I prefer it over Gatorade. Liquid I.V. is another brand but I haven't tried that yet.
Funbun, thanks for posting that video and glad you recognized that things weren't quite right. Super smart to call it a day. Different hat style may help as well and I should take my own advice and move to a different style hat with neck protection. Shade would be great to have, as mentioned above.
All in all remember: The sun fuses 600 million tons of hydrogen per second. A gallon of Gatorade, a wide brimmed hat and an umbrella will never be enough. There are times when you simply need to get off the water. Being older (middle aged) I simply can't take the heat as I did as a college student. There comes an age where you have to set limits on how long you'll be in the sun.

Fish with a Full Sized Umbrella. I'm planning on adding another Lithium just for the 12V Fan Slab suggested. This umbrella is a Amazon $35 deal.
I run a 20 v Dewalt and let me tell ya it’s a lifesaver
Since I have some Ryobi 18V tools, I also carry one or two of the fans when I remember—it’s mostly for the kids
I know a lady who has one of those power tool battery operated fans. Heck, Tractor Supply should have some 12 volt fans.
I have been using Ultima Electrolyte Mix for at least 10 yrs in the summers. It is now $40.50 on Amazon for 90 glass fulls. It has stivia and not sugar. I has worked for me for years and I seem to be getting hotter quicker in my aging body!!!!!!! Good luck.
I'll have to try it.
I figure I could make my own out of lemon juice, stevia and a bit of mountain salt.
I know everyone is different but stivia gives me the poops something terrible. But yes, electrolytes are good on hot days.
