I'm normally a reader and don't post much. There used to be so many new posts it was hard to keep up with them all. We used to do night stalks, and had a NC vs SC get together every year. between High Rock and Wylie.

Mississippi also going through tough times after covid . We used to post at ten in the morning and by ten that night it was on the third page . People do not fish like they once did .Folks do not have the money to do lots of things we once did . Hard times in Mississippi . :popcorn
Almost all the hobby forums I used to frequent have slowed down if not gone dead. I think people are moving to Facebook groups. I think the forum experience is better but nobody has asked me. This forum has lasted longer than most but Virginia forum is all but dead now, even in the busy Springtime
People are moving to Facebook and Reddit. I don’t mind Reddit for general content, although I don’t have a Facebook account for reasons that I choose not to discuss.

My guess is that the few that were posting about their trips were tired of giving out information. When there are a lot of folks that read the posts and go fishing, but never post. I myself have not been able to fish as much as I once did. I enjoyed reading all of the posts.
And I always posted about the trips that I went on. Both the good ones and bad ones.Attachment 505330

yes, we all used to joke and kid each other we had good times and would all get together and fish from time to time
The whole site has seemed to have slowed down over the last few years. For my part, like others have said, I'm just not going as often as I used to for various reasons. Flooded lakes have kept me home, so far this year, along with tornados. :bash
Crappie.com has a Facebook page .... and you know what most of it contains : guide ads, videos, bait ads, and people trying to sell Livescope bundles.
Me personally I haven't had much to post about! Between not catching many and not been going much, just nothing to mention. I have a hobby that's turned into kinda a side job(sort of hope it can turn more full time) that's where my attention has been over the last few months. I'm planning to start night fishing in the next week or two so hopefully I'll have a post!
Most of us older guys are not in the best medical shape or has passed. It's been two years since I have been fishing, not that I quit fishing just haven't been (going through some hard medical things). During covid the lakes were over loaded with people that never fished before and would look for places to fish. They would look at the fishing forums and would cover up any place that they seen someone catching fish. In return this made many to stop posting reports.
You younger guys need to step up and start posting reposts and to take the time to get together groups for events. It's not that hard to do, heck we use to just make a post of (I'm going tonight who want to go) at times we would have up to10 or more boats join in just from the post of the day. Had some very good times on quick roundup trips to the lake. Times are hard for many so we have to just make the best of what we can. Nothing like spending time on the water as its the trip of going that make us a winner not the amount of fish we catch so all trips you can post about. Crappie.com is full of great guys and ladies that loves the sport of fishing. Through all the events that I helped to make happen I have never meet a person form this site that I didn't like and made many life long friends. The memories made has never faded.
that is exactly what i was thinking about when I made this post, we used to get together and have great fellow ship and then fish and come back to the ramp and talk smack. it was some good times. I am going to try can get some members together and see if we can do a night stalk somewhere soon.
Besides a lot of members getting older or passing on, there's been a number of changes at many internet forums. One Ohio forum I used to regularly post on for over 20 years got two new nazi moderators a couple of years back once they were bought out by a national company. They started banning many longtime members that were contributing members for 20 years before those moderators signed up...
Now it's just a former shell of itself with old guys that mostly complain about everything with no fishing reports. It is really sad. I met some great guys and fished with them all over the state from Lake Erie to the Ohio River and most reservoirs in between. Did
mention it's really sad?
They even asked me to be a moderator but I told them a strong no as it is against my beliefs to work for a national company for no wages...plus it would take away time from my fishing :)
Do the night stalk on Big Allison. What date do you want to have it. I would like to if I can find a crew. Just pick and let's see who brave enough to seen. I know Offishlbizzness would have to be dragged off the couch like me. But I'll go this time. Ask the NC side if anyone wants to travel down this way. As for your thoughts of NC and SC clash it dissolved due to NC not having enough people to show up. We always had several boats, and they had two most of the time. Not fare to those brave participants. It was a good time on High Rock or Lake Wylie. NC always showed up in force at HR. But it didn't matter we pulled it off every time with the win! Call me if you need to! :highfive
