The crappie are hit and miss right now. One day you can get them and the next same place never get a bite. Brought home 9 today over 12 inches. All came from 12 feet deep.

Good job, but maybe the weather pattern, is affecting them.
thanks for the report
With the rain today lake should be close to 2 feet above normal. Nice chocolate color. Lot of debris everywhere.
Thanks for sharing your report. I imagine the rains aren’t helping with the bite…
Lake is 5 feet above normal. Only launch open is camp ground.
Yep, lots of people won't be happy. But it does happen at times. It's because of being a flood control lake. Just hoping that it won't get too high, like it did that one year. At least Pymatuming is also controlled by the Corp of Engineers too, which was the problem that time.
Lake is still very high very few spots to fish from shore. Fished the beach area this morning and 4 perch and 2 cats in 3 hours of fishing. Docks aren’t in yet as of yesterday.
The fish really turned on this morning. Crappie, perch, gills, white bass, smallmouth, and a Muskie all caught in 2 hours. 38 total fish and brought home 9 crappies over 12 inches. Fished from shore with bait 7 foot down. The males have moved into the shallows.
Wow, what a haul, and mix of fish.
My buddy Craig and I shore fished a few areas Thursday. The clarity was a little murky yet, but not muddy at that point. We caught a few dozen or so, but all were small. Translucent light pink was the bast color. Was hoping for some good keepers as the late Fall inventory in the freezer is getting very thin.
Unless your fishing from a boat or wearing waders water is to high from most spots. It will be at least a week before the lake is fishable from all the rain that came down. It came up 2 feet since yesterday.
The lake is unfishable unless your using a boat. Water is up to the top of all ramps. A good 5 foot rise in water level if not more.
Everything is closed. It came up six feet this past week. Water is in the parking lots along the causeway. Pymatuning is up a good 2 1/2-3 feet.
Lake is currently 12 feet above normal. All access areas are closed. If any one has reservations for camp grounds call and check if your site is effected because they closed some sites due to eagles nesting near by.
Mahaney ramp is finally open so I thought I’d go fish the lake today. Still pretty high but draining fast. Fishing was tough. Put a dozen crappies in the box and three nice gills. Bad news is the eggs looked rotten again this year. Eight had eggs that looked terrible. One still had good mass. I’ll find out more next time I get out. If you’ve found different, please post it.
Was wondering about the spawn, and if there would be one, with the low temps this year. Considering that we were 20 degrees below, what it should have been, for so long. Heck, can't even get the garden started yet from all the rain we had. Did get 4 tomatoe plants, and a dozen pepper plants in, only because of putting them in containers. Would think though, that gills will still be able spawn.
They moved off the bank. Couldn’t find any fish today. Fished the upper end above Tara and nothing. Was fishing for walleyes the first 3 hours and not a hit. Tried for crappies for fun and couldn’t find them either. Water temp is 60. All the launches are open.
MAKE sure you take bug spray. Mosquitoes are horrible. Left my car door open putting the boat on the trailer and had at least 30 of them in the car.

Lake has risen almost 3 foot in the last 2 days. Caught 17 crappie this morning trolling 14 foot down. Not one would have been a keeper. Perch are starting to take over a lot of spots. Catching them on 3” lures trolling.
Lake is currently 4.25 feet above normal. Mahoney was open at 6 AM this morning but that may be subject to change.
