Never too soon! I think my decision will be more fluid this year as to when I come down. That is less fluid in the lake!
If the lake is high again I may choose a different week. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Sold my camper so I bought a tent that goes in the bed a truck. lol Probably going to try it out before camp and see what I think of it. :peacesmile
Is it Always the first weekend in May?
Bigby what brand tent did you buy
I’m gonna try to make it again this year
Gonna need for sure dates so I can take off work though

Hey sorry I am late on this. Our usual weekend is always the first weekend of May to avoid Mother’s Day.
Sheryl and I have been moving to a new place with no steps and a significant down size.
We’ve done this enough, I’m wondering how much we need to work on the menu besides grilling/bbq on Friday night and fish fry on Saturday night.
I’m still planning on coming down but physically will have to downplay some of my normal input.
I plan to have the boat shed reworked so I can make the weekend work.

I will not make it for Crappie camp this year other engagements but will be down April 5-13 gonna miss seeing the Crappie.com crew. Anyone going to be round I can pick up some Spotted Cow and drop it off.
Reserved A-65. 4/1 to 4/4.
Dad n I have our usual spots. A something..
I’m next to the twins and dad is behind us closer to bigby.
I rather imagine some of the crowd are wondering about my absence from the forum, especially at crappie camp time.
We lost my mother last September and ax executor of the estate, that pulled me away from fishing for the fall. Then we decided to move to a retirement community with no stairs.
Moved from 2600 sq ft plus a 30 ft shed with a loft to 1400 sq ft and a 1 car garage. We are still unpacking after 6 weeks.
That being said, I have not been discussing camp. Sheryl and I are not going to be camping but will be down both Friday and Saturday afternoon. More to follow on next post…..

My questions are for the group.
1) should I try to get our usual site or do we want to maybe work into the area by baitwaster and/or Keeferfish?
2) if we are going to do burgers/dogs, do we need my big Weber and other grills from the shed?
3) is anyone smoking a pork butt?
If so I think we have done this enough to know what we need.
Sheryl and I will make cobbler and bring baked beans as usual. Probably pick up some salads at price chopper.
4)assuming we want to cook fish, do we need my camp stove and pans to cook fish and taters.
I still have plates etc in the shed.
I know this is late but we just don’t have the $1000 or so it takes to camp for 5 days.
We still hope we do something as a group and are looking forward to seeing everyone.

How many of us are confirmed?
I'm always in the 'keep it simple' camp. As much as I enjoy the variety of food, I'm not willing to put in the work. Plus I can always eat leftovers from the twins :)
I can bring a stack of wood to feed the fire in the site with the twins (or my site A34) to keep from needing to rent another.
A fish fry is always fun. Your cooker and pans is probably the only way to go if everyone wants to do that.
If we still want to potluck On Friday, I can do a pork butt.
I say and when I say that, it includes Joedog since we shared one not so bright brain : KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid - works the best for us.
No tent, No meal, No plans. Not enough people to worry about it or put up all the work and fuss. We would of course love to visit with whoever is there when we're there. We are still up in the air on when we will be there. Might be the same time, might be sooner and if the lake is 15 to 20 ft high might not be at all. Hope to see ya peeps! :cheers2
And by the lack of responses .........................

Laura and I are planning to arrive Thursday afternoon and stay until Sunday. I like the “just keep it simple” plan. That being said, I’m willing to bring whatever we need for a get together
So unless something changes, Sheryl and I will be down in the evenings Dutch oven and baked beans in hand. I can break out the fish fry stuff if needed.

Did Smitty say she was trying to come again this year?
I think the nay's have it. FYOS(Feed your own self) this year. (So glad Jeff still wants to do cobler)
Unless someone else wants to host in their campsite.
A34 is the place to be. I'll have a big cooler of bottled water and a mess of firewood. If any of the cabin or city dwellers want to grill out I can grab a BBQ from Jeff's storage unit, but please let me know ahead.
What about Clownfish? he ever gonna come again?
Im pretty sure Smitty will be there depending on work. There will probably be a couple of older members and their wife’s coming as well. They don’t post much either
Riding down with Mark759 on May 1. Been a little bit since I've been to camp, looking forward to a get together and putting a hurt on some slabs. Got a room over at the lodge, not sure what bring, might just wait till I get down there and see what we need. As with past camps weather I am ready, bringing everything from a speedo to a parka, man I hope it ain't hot.

Looking like a NO FISH Repeat of last year and the water level on the exact same trajectory at the exact same time

That's why I seldom show. Wish it would go to September.
Well I might not be the only one who thinks we could find a better date for camp. :juggle
My most productive crappie camp!
Friday’s we went after the hogs and did pretty well. Boated 15 or so before we got hailed on. Found out our rain gear is better suited as package peanuts.
Yesterday we tried to find a head wind on the north side of the lake so it couldn’t pick up so much steam.
We found the wind and found some hungry dinks. We quickly moved away and found keeper of all sizes. But the bite was slow.
By 2 we couldn’t take anymore wind in our face and called it quits with 28 in the box.
Other than a short rain and some wind it was a beautiful weekend outside.

Happy it worked out for you guys! :cheers2
it's still turkey season and my boy and his crew are always at my place so I of course go there. Think summer or fall would work better but that's JMHO. Miss being with you all even if some don't know how to take a proper pic like the Keefer.
BTW it cracks me up when I see a post from you as Keefer is what my grandma and dad's side of the family called me when I was a young in. Cousins from KC still do.
Since this seems a bust how about a October camp?
Anytime other than the Spring Truman FLOOD season!
