Best crappie reels for jigging and bobber fishing?
I really like the BnM Pro reels. Both 50 and 100. Won’t break the bank….
Panfish Reels - B'n'M Pole Company
I don't think their is a really best reel. You can spend $10 - $200 for a reel and they will all catch crappie. Give me a good mid-level Shimano, Daiwa, Pfluger etc. and I am ready to catch some fish.
Like Grainraiser I'm all over the place on this. I really like my Pfluegers but I'm not brand loyal. I have almost every brand.
Phlueger and Shimano. I don’t have to worry about whether my reel can handle whatever takes my lure.
Shimano Sienna gets my vote, but I have several brands. Lew's reels are great too.
The two I'm most pleased with are my two Shimano Spirex 2000's & my two Mitchell 300x's (all of which are quite old, but still function very well). I say they're "old" so as not to be confused with the newer or latest models.
My Spirex's are a rear drag & a front drag ... both are "quickfire" & have the double paddle handles.
My Mitchell's have a single flat paddle handle & are very smooth reeling reels.
I prefer the flat paddle style handles over round knob style handles.
I use diawa, but I agree with this, I have had big bass and catfish either break my 4# mono, or destroy the smoothness of the dragon. With a good drag I still get broken off once in a while, but, just like trout fishing, the line size matters both in lure action, and not feeling overguned for the fish angled for.

I’ve had good luck with Mitchell and Shimano mid level reels
The cheap $19.98 a piece at Walmart Shimano FX is what I use as far as spinning. Any cheap bait caster works good as a line holder on a long rod if fishing shallow.
Well just a FYI It's getting to that time of year in which both Walmart and Academy have their pre-spring clearance sales. Last year I got Pflueger Presidents and Shimano Sonora's for less than $20.
I like Shimano - any problems they go back and they're fixed
Any middle end from trusted brand like Shimano or Daiwa would be good for crappie. There might be others better at same price point but not as reliable in terms of long term quality. Ones might not think Crappie reel is very important, but me, I take it a little bit more seriously from Balancing, casting distance, inertia and drag smoothness.
I am happy with new Daiwa LT series no Magseal from Legalis or Exceler even though my usual crappie reels are more expensive (Tatula MQ, Ballistic FW)I would op for 2000 size spool instead of typical ultralight reel (500, 1000) the larger diameter, distance and line management are better and 2000 just different spool but same frame as 1000.
I use a 2500 spool on mine
Daiwa is solid through the lineup.
They all work but i tend to lean toward pflueger presidents or trion on the reels i use the most they are the most durable reels i have ever used.
OP , are you using a long pole ? 10 ft or more? Or shorter pole casting ?

The blue colored quick fire with a rear drag Spirex were discontinued a few years back I used to buy them for $59 new on eBay. Apparently they’re a collector thing now or something $150-200 for used ones. I’m still using some old AX and FX quick fires with rear drag, love them quick fires.
I love the Piscifun 500 and 1000 reels! Smooth and great drag! Excellent reel for the money!!
I just got several of these exact reels at an antique mall for pennies on the dollar....can you send them back for rebuild? A couple of them are making noises when you reel them unless that is normal? I ended up with 5 of them total, 2 of them are making that clicking noise when reeling.
I'd look for a reputable reel repair business & ask them. They might just need cleaning & fresh lube, but the clicking noise could be caused by a couple of things (like a damaged anti-reverse, debris in the gears, or worn/damaged drag).
According to Google AI .... There are several places that offer fishing reel cleaning and repair services near Oglethorpe, Georgia, including Nutter Rod & Reel Service, River Rats Reel Repair, and Let's Go Fishing Reel Repair.
I really like Diawa Regals, after trying one i bought 2 more, there smooth as silk, good drag and smaller then most. But if I'm vertical jigging shallow water a sidewinder is fine.

I like KastKing reels.
Okay I just left Walmart and like I suspected they are having their spring clearance sale. The only thing I saw of note is Shimano Sienna and Pfluger Trion's are on clearance for $20. They had Ugly Stix's for $20 and Hank Parker rods for $22.50. Lots of fishing line but it was gone by the time I got their. I did not see any crappie baits on clearance.
Went to Academy today and they have a additional 50% off their clearance item sale. I did not see alot of crappie stuff but they did have alot of bass lures on clearance. I did notice that like Walmart they are clearancing out the Pfluger Trions for $20.
For long poles I like the Shimano IX spinning reels. Rear Drag. 4to1 gear ratio. 19" of line per crank. 8.4 to 8.6 oz with the quick fire system (one handed cast and retrieve) and $15 normal price.

For my casting poles I prefer the Shimano Sienna, Sedona, or Sahara reels. Depends on tactic and mating pole.
