Just wondering if crappie will go after lure with rattle sound like all other fish? Anyone have experience using rattle tube for crappie. I have old tiny 3x10mm rattle glass tube that I used to use for bass, thinking of utilizing this for crappie by adding to a line under bobbers.
Bud one of my Buddies in Houma La. used a rattle in a tiny popping cork for crappie fishing a jig and it's deadly. The rattle is in the peg/stick.
There is company that makes a tiny rattle bead that is threaded on the line before you tie on your jig. One puts a bobber stopper on the line then the rattle. The rattling bead sits next to the jig knot. Ive never tried them but I was given some as a present. Will have to give them a try.

Bobby Garland makes rattles for inserting into the Slab Huntrs
I don't see why they wouldn't hit a "rattling" lure. They hit cranks & "Rattletraps", both of which make a rattling sound. Shad in a school make a rattling (clicking ??) sound when on the move. We tend to think it's fairly quiet down there amongst the fishies, but it's actually quite "noisey" ... we just have to remember that fish don't actually "hear" sound, they "feel" it thru the Lateral Lines on their bodies and can do so from some distance.
I wouldn't think a rattling jig would be productive in any & all circumstances ... but could spark a feeding instinct if used at the proper time. :twocents

For real though I don’t really see big difference using or not using one.
I’m a firm believer in rattles at night in a couple local lakes & especially for smallmouth. I think I’ll make an effort to remember to try them at night for crappie next summer.

I thought about using rattles in some of the larger plastic bodies I use for Crappie, but the rattles I have are just too big to use in anything <3" or that have a slim body profile. The other thought I had was that the rattles wouldn't really produce any sound unless the bait was "jiggled" during the retrieve, or unless the bait was bounced thru the limbs of a brushpile.
If ya'll start showing more productive results with rattles, I may have to look into trying some of these aforementioned "rattle jigheads" or "rattle beads". :check
It looks like a plastic bead that has small hollow chambers that have tiny tiny metal bee bees. I didn’t weigh one but ate very very light
like I said I don’t have experience good or bad because I’ve never used them.

In really turbid waters , sound helps , that there lateral line is kind like LS built into a crappie….
Makes it really unfair to a bait fish :Rofl
