Brings back memories! I used to fish Old River while at LSU. It was always a puzzle! Sometimes fantastic, sometimes awful, but most of the time I just caught a few. I remember one trip in the spring, we went southwest along the levee looking for spawning crappie, didn’t find any, but found spawning gar and carp. Huge carp!! I happened to have my bow on board. Had an absolute blast catching them! We gave them to some locals. They thought they won the lottery!!

Does this old river lock out? Is there a dam that holds it at a certain level when the river drops out like it has here around Vidalia.

Thanks JR, ours here locks out around 12' on our gage and it's at 9' now, so we are land locked til a rise comes. Just wondering would it be worth take a ride down the lever to feesh
