I am looking at one of these to purchase. Does anyone have any experience downloading maps from the Lowrance website. Is there special hardware needed? Thanks for any advice.

You will need a card reader. About 20 bucks or less at Wallyworld.Quote:

You can use any MMC or SD memory card.
Thanks. I saved some maps from the website to the card and put it in. I was trying to save them to the unit but then realized the unit automatically recognizes them and runs them from the card. I think this thing is going to be fun to use. thanks for your help.
No problem. Lowrance makes that pretty easy. Software updates are just as easy. Download it to the card, put the card in and turn it on. Thats it. If my memory serves me (and often it doesn't) it does not automatically write your waypoints to the card. But its simple to transfer them to it and back if you update the card using a waypoint management program.Quote:

Here's the web address for the free enhanced lowrance maps.

looks like the most maps are from Tex., Okla., and Ohio. We may have to migrate.
Does this included NAVIONICS HotMaps?
Thanks Eddie. Unfortunately they do not have any for my home state of IN.Quote:
